Percy Life After Chef Music Life After Chef. I’m Percy — a poet, story teller and song writer rebuilding life with purpose through word and experiences (good and bad).

You Can’t Get It Back
A reflective piece about how fragile love is and how easily it can crack beyond repair. Through images of broken mirrors, shattered glass and cups glued back together, the song reminds us that some damage stays visible no matter how hard we try to fix it. Every action has consequences, and once certain moments slip away, you can’t always get them back.

No Silly Games
This song gives a big nod to Janet Kay’s “Silly Games”, echoing its theme of wanting someone to stop hiding their feelings. No Silly Games is about finally giving in to the moment — two people dropping the pretence and letting the night unfold naturally.
It’s a warm, intimate story of long‑held desire, closeness, and honesty. The chorus repeats the central message: no more games, no more waiting, just letting their hearts lead the way. The outro softens everything down, leaving a gentle, romantic finish.

Still Standing (Til It’s Done) isn’t just another song/poem. It’s probably the favourite thing i've written.

PAIN HID IN THE RAIN 2025 song paints a vivid picture of someone who finds solace in the rain—it’s their perfect disguise. While others run from the storm, this person steps into it, using every raindrop as a way to mask their pain. The storm becomes their sanctuary, a space where they can hide their hurt in plain sight. It’s a metaphor for wearing the weather as a cloak, letting the rain wash over them and conceal what they’re really feeling.

About Turn
About Turn is a grounded, heartfelt life‑story song that traces a journey from Shard End’s concrete terrace houses to the discipline of army life and the quiet triumph of choosing a better path. It opens in the Midlands rain, where family warmth and street‑corner lessons shaped a boy who saw both danger and decency in equal measure. The verses move through wild teenage years, the pull of quick thrills, and the pivotal moment of signing up at sixteen — a decision that rerouted everything.
The chorus delivers the song’s spine: the idea that beginnings don’t define destinies, and that anyone can steer their life toward something stronger. Later verses bring love, stability, and reflection, while the bridge honours the lads who didn’t make the same turn, offering compassion instead of judgement.
It’s a tribute to resilience, loyalty, and the power of choosing your own direction — no matter where you start, no matter what shadows you’ve walked through.

Yesterday at The Cavern Club, absolutely amazing atmosphere and The Rubber Souls were amazing. If you haven't yet done a Beatles day in Liverpool it's fantastic.

When the Fire Faded Slow is a reflective breakup song about two people who once felt completely at home in each other, only to slowly drift apart. The lyrics trace that quiet unraveling — how warmth thins, colours fade, and love slips into silence before anyone can name the ache. It’s about realising you were burning alone, trying to hold onto something already turning to smoke. But the song isn’t just loss; it’s growth. By the final chorus, the narrator finds strength in the embers, accepting that healing sometimes means letting go and allowing love to return in a different form. LYRICS BY PERCY

"I Wrote a Love Song for You... I'm Sorry It's Late"is about first love, growing up together, and the words that sometimes take decades to find. It's a reminder that although life doesn't always give us the ending we hoped for, some people never truly leave our hearts.
If you've ever looked back on someone who helped shape your life, this song is for you.
Thank you for listening. I hope it brings back a memory worth holding onto.

9 years ago alraedy, still missed and talked about. When I wrote Today’s the Day, it was my way of standing in the whirlwind of loss and trying to speak from the heart. In those lines, I poured out the mix of grief, gratitude, and love I felt as I said goodbye to my mum. Every word came from that raw place — the ache of losing her, the warmth of remembering her, and the realization that she was the reason my family is what it is. Writing it helped me find a voice for my sorrow, and it let me honour her as the truly special person she was. It’s a simple goodbye, but it’s also my promise to keep living in a way that makes her proud.
