🥖 🧀 🫑

vibrant etchings of southwestern sauce
engraved between two concrete layers
a flyover of cheese
pinged to within an inch of its life
this bubbling crust is dangerously enticing
drawing you close to the brink
discoloured lettuce spoils the aesthetic
decrepit walls
encompass vandalism and creativity
a likened realm to that of a sandwich artist with a penchant for jalapeño peppers
the fast food eatery presents differently to a grimy tunnel harbouring illicit secrets

Six months ago today, I went to a local poetry workshop, keen to recapture my love for creative writing and engage in a new hobby! Since then I’ve written over 100 poems, put them out in the public domain and even performed at an Open Mic session. My ultimate poetry goal is to self publish, and why not?

And Frost Bites
Sunshine peeps through
Hues of Gold and Orange
That awash the branches
We trawl through muddy grounds
Splayed with rust coloured leaves and conkers
Blowing away the cobwebs
As the Dusk sets in
Stargazers keep watch
For an Aurora blanketed landscape

Littered with obstacles
No Pie in the Sky

A Halcyon existence
Lost somewhere in reality
Where struggles are real and potent

The upkeep of you is everything
Though it’s easy to forget

When the wall seems too high
It’s okay to call for help
