It is always lovely to recieve messages like this from one of our visitors.

"Hi just wanted to say we came on the Sunday and had the bestest day out! We really enjoyed it.

All the reenactors were so engaging, friendly, knowledgable and interesting. All happy to chat and make us feel welcome.

The Battle was fab! I loved the horses 😊

Such a lovely atmosphere and very well organised.

We've never been before but are visiting Battlefield 1403 again on Thursday and we will be coming to the reenactment next year.

⚔️ The Battle of Shrewsbury was over... but the aftermath was truly horrific.

On 21 July 1403, King Henry IV secured a hard-fought victory over the rebel forces led by Sir Henry "Hotspur" Percy. Thousands of men lay dead across the battlefield, and many of those who fell were buried together in large mass graves known today as the Battle of Shrewsbury body pits which are rumoured to be in various locations.

For the rebel leaders, there was no mercy. The Earl of Worcester and Sir Richard Vernon were captured and executed for treason. Hotspur's body was initially buried but later exhumed on the King's orders, quartered, and displayed across England to prove he was dead and to warn anyone considering rebellion against the Crown.

Although Henry IV had won the battle, the conflict was far from over. The Percy family still sought revenge, and unrest in the North continued to threaten the kingdom.
