We're so excited to share this!

Our Director, April Louise - Comedy, along with Shaun David Doane and Calum Scouller, have started filming Gone Gigging (working title)* – a documentary celebrating Britain's grassroots comedy scene and the incredible people who keep it alive.

At Gags for Good, we see every week how comedy can build confidence, create friendships and help people find their voice. That's why we're especially excited to see this project shine a light on the communities, venues, promoters, comedians and audiences that make grassroots comedy so special.

We couldn't be prouder of April and can't wait to follow the journey.

🎬 We're looking for the people behind Britain's grassroots comedy scene.

The Grit Pit is excited to announce that we're currently filming Gone Gigging (working title) – a documentary following comedians April Louise, Big Shaun and Calum as they travel the UK exploring the heart of grassroots comedy.

This isn't just a documentary about stand-up.

It's about the promoters risking their own money to keep nights alive, the venues opening their doors, the comedians driving hundreds of miles for ten minutes on stage, the volunteers, the audiences, the friendships and the communities built around live comedy.

We also want to explore the bigger conversations surrounding grassroots comedy today – from mental health and why so many of us are drawn to comedy, to gatekeeping, opportunities for new acts, and what the future of the grassroots circuit looks like.

If you're a comedian, promoter, venue owner, volunteer or someone with a story to tell, we'd love to hear from you.

Tomorrow night, our second cohort of Couch to Comedian students take to the stage for their showcase at Heist Brew Co🎤

Just a few months ago, many of them had never written a joke, held a microphone or imagined themselves doing stand-up comedy in front of a room full of people.

Tomorrow, they’ll be stepping into the spotlight and sharing the material they’ve worked so hard to create.

It takes guts to get up on stage and be funny. These lot have put in the work and supported each other every step of the way. We couldn’t be prouder of them.

If you’d like to come along, support local comedy and cheer on some brilliant new acts, we’d love to see you there.

We were featured on News 🎥

Filming took place at home with and her family, and at with a few of our latest Gags for Good cohort.

This is what we’re about.

Creating spaces where people feel safe enough to try something new, brave enough to share their voice and supported enough to stand on stage and be heard.

In just eight weeks, this group went from “I’m not sure I can do this” to performing in front of a packed room at and absolutely smashing it.

And yes… one of our students, Martin, delivered a questionable joke on camera… but redeemed himself with a brilliant set at the showcase 👏

We couldn’t be prouder of this group 💚

Last night was something special 🖤💚🖤

Over 100 people packed into to watch 10 brand new comedians take to the stage after just 8 weeks… and honestly? They absolutely smashed it.

Every single one of them got up there, owned the room, and delivered. Not just funny but brave, honest and completely themselves. The kind of comedy you can’t teach overnight.

What people don’t always see is the graft behind it:
the nerves, the rewrites, the “is this even funny?” moments, the courage it takes just to stand up and speak.

And then last night… they turned all of that into something brilliant.

We couldn’t be prouder.

This is exactly why we do what we do at Gags for Good, because when people are given the space, support and a mic… incredible things happen.

We’re very excited to see what this group does next 👀

There was a time I didn’t know if I’d even get to watch my children grow up.

Now I run a social enterprise helping other people find their voice through comedy.
