Our wonderful Scarecrow Trail is just 6 weeks away! Now would be a great time to make a start on your scarecrow! It could be any event or character from the past. It's a free entry with cash prizes of £50, £30 and £20 for the winners as voted by everyone following the trail. Fun Day Sunday 5 July will open the afternoon with a History Fancy Dress Parade (children or adults). We invite fancy dress costumes with a theme History so it could be any event or character from the past and everyone entering our Fancy Dress parade will be given a raffle ticket and we will then draw 4 lucky winners each winning £25!!! Hoping for lots of entries.

Don't miss the Church Spring Fayre in Thurgoland Village Hall, tomorrow, Saturday from 11am to 2pm. Lots of plants, craft stalls, books, refreshments - come and join us for a bacon butty and tea / coffee!

Tomorrow morning, Friday, the school children will meet at the village hall car park for a 'Bubble Walk to School'. This is an end of term (and end of SATS) event to promote walking to school as part of the healthy living.

Saturday 2nd May Thurgoland Village Hall 12-3. Come and have a look, there will be some good bargains, all reasonable offers accepted. We are also selling homemade bird feeders and homemade dog biscuits. All money raised is going towards Myas ‘World Challenge’ Conservation trip next year. If anyone has any good quality ‘stuff’ they would like to donate to save a trip to the charity shop I am happy to collect. 😃

We are looking forward to our Thurgoland Scarecrow Trail on the weekend of 4th / 5th July. It's free to enter with cash prizes to win. As the Welfare is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this summer the theme for scarecrows is 'Moments from History'. This is very wide ranging and could be any character (real or imagined) or any event out of our history books. If you have children on Easter holidays this might be a fun activity to work on? Any questions contact organiser Rachel Marshall on 07957590057 (although not this week, she's on holiday). It would be really great if we can get loads of entries!
