Just popped up to Camp Wildfire and man alive people are having good, clean fun up there. The forest is full of the sound of small groups of people laughing, clapping, cheering and occasional ukulele! And I love the fact you can tell whether people are there for the first time (t-shirt and shorts), the second time (camp wildfire t-shirt, shorts and squirrel ears, see photo for example of year 2 participants) or three plus times (full on hi-di-hi outfit with badges, possibly flashing braces and a squirrel tail plus face paints).

Over 50% of all tickets for Camp Kindling 2027 are SOLD OUT🎉

We're still slightly reeling from this one. The forest gates closed on 2026 only 4 days ago, and half of next summer's tickets have already gone.

We know what sits behind each of those bookings. Working out whether the dates clash with something. Checking whether the other family can make it too. Deciding to spend a chunk of your year's holiday on a weekend with us is no small thing, and we are truly grateful to all of you.

If you've been meaning to sort yours, this is the gentle nudge. Veteran tickets and Ultra Earlybird tickets are on sale now.

Some fabulous feedback in this morning from a new user of the St Clere 6 Acres Dog Walking Field; “Hiya, I just want to say we hired the field Saturday and oh my god, it’s incredible! You’ve thought of everything! An amazing space that our dogs loved!”.
Now our one year permission has been turned into permanent planning permission and we have extended hours, PLUS insurance, water, a secure area to release your dogs and all the things not-strictly-legal fields don’t have, we are hoping to make it even better for our waggy tailed friends and their lovely owners/walkers. www.6acres-stclere.co.uk

FIRE - Again!
All of us living in Wrotham/Ightham/Borough Green/Kemsing have just had a seriously near miss with an arson fire. One of our team, Ali, thank GOD smelt smoke as he was heading home and he called Martin and the two of them found a fire that had been deliberately set along the pilgrims’ way byway. This is the fourth time there has been a fire deliberately set in that area this year. This time it has taken the fire brigade 2 hours to put it out, and has involved the St Clere team staying at work hours late to assist. The team also brought water down from where it was on standby at Camp Wildfire. Let alone the wasted time of our heroic fire brigade.
If anyone knows who is setting these fires, the time has come to report them to the police. At any time arson is incredibly dangerous, right now it is even worse. Today we have avoided a fire that could have been as bad as the fires we have seen across the country causing catastrophic damage to homes and property, injury and serious physical repercussions to communities from the smoke. But for the care and commitment of the team here, moments later that fire would have taken hold of the bone dry fields full of what is essentially kindling and nothing would have stopped them spreading to all the villages around.

⚠️ Wildfire risk is currently very high due to the prolonged hot and dry weather.

If you're enjoying the outdoors this weekend, please take extra care - Avoid anything that could start a fire, including barbecues, campfires and discarded ci******es

If you spot a fire, move to safety and call 999 immediately.

Thank you for helping protect our communities, wildlife and natural spaces.

Joy of joys more flytipping, the last lot got cleared by the council last week and yesterday more appeared overnight. If anyone recognises the vehicle, it entered the lane full, and emerged empty 3 minutes later. Not many legal council run landfill sites in the vicinity so I think we can say with certainty that the driver was responsible. Honestly, I really do struggle with people who fly tip, or frankly even drop litter. There’s a beauty spot on Exedown Road that people drive to, presumably specifically to enjoy the stunning view while having lunch, and then leave the rubbish from their lunch. Can anyone help me? What is that about?

Six Acres Dog Field

We are delighted to announce that we been granted permanent planning permission

There are still some restrictions, but we have longer hours in the summer months (April-August), so you can now book from 6am with the last session ending at 9pm.

We will now have a look at planting some trees to provide more shade, although that will have to wait for a bit of rain and to provide a couple of benches and install solar powered security lighting at the gate

Why not pop in to Kentish Garden Pub at The Chequers for a coffee this weekend? And maybe walk some of the 30 miles of footpaths across the estate?

August is going to be a delicious month at the Chequers Inn. Willow’s Earth Coffee is officially setting up for weekend service in the garden pub, beautifully managed by the Kentish Garden Pub team — and I couldn’t be more excited to bring speciality coffee, matcha and boba tea to one of Seven...
