Selby, we’re doing it again… and we’d LOVE to see you.

This Bank Holiday Monday, the six of us from the Selby Art Collective are taking over The George for ART EXPO 26, and we’ve got so much new work to show you.

Six local artists, six very different styles and a room absolutely packed with original art. Some brand new pieces, some smaller affordable works, some big statement paintings and plenty you won’t have seen before.

There’s no pressure to buy anything. Just come in, have a wander, have a chat with us and enjoy looking at some art. Grab a cup of tea from the bar, or make it a beer or a glass of wine if it’s that sort of Bank Holiday Monday!

And with the market outside too, it’s a lovely excuse to come into Selby and have a mooch around.

Selby has always been incredibly supportive of its local artists, and it means such a lot to us when people come through those doors, whether you’re an art collector, someone who just likes looking at nice things, or you simply fancy seeing what six local artists have been up to.

Linda and Karl joined us for a fascinating conversation about their lives as artists and painters, sharing their experiences, creative journeys and what inspires them.

In this particular clip, Karl speaks about fellow artist Claire, who has been living with Long COVID, and how creating pastel paintings has become an act of defiance for her a way of continuing to create, express herself and do something she truly loves. 💜

It was brilliant working with Linda and Kyle and giving them a platform to share their stories and passion for art.

Painted on newsprint,four pieces taped together...it's big!!
The newsprint was fragile, I used graphite powder, charcoal,soft pastel and acrylic paint lots of fixative and acrylic medium to secure it for posting to the gallery.
It will be exhibited at Scarborough Nicholas Cliff Gallery.
The launch date and competition winners will be announced 27th August.
Tough competition keep your fingers crossed for me please x
