🖤 FORGE FESTIVAL & BLACK TONGUE EVENTS — OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFE SPACES
We’ve seen the recent conversations around toilet facilities, accessibility and the treatment of trans and gender-diverse people at events, and we want to make our position clear.
Black Tongue Events and Forge Festival do not own or operate the venues we use, meaning the final policies and facilities available at each event are determined by the venue.
However, that does not mean we don’t care about how people feel when attending our events.
Our commitment is simple:
đź–¤ We will do everything within our power to work with our venues to ensure there is a safe, private toilet facility available for anyone who does not feel comfortable using the main toilet facilities.
đź–¤ We will work with venues wherever possible to make sure accessible and individual toilet facilities are clearly identified and available to those who need them.
đź–¤ Nobody attending a Black Tongue Events or Forge Festival event should be subjected to abuse, intimidation, harassment or humiliation while trying to use the facilities.
đź–¤ Our staff, volunteers and security teams will be expected to take concerns seriously and help anyone who feels unsafe.
We know that toilet facilities can be a difficult subject for many people, and we don’t want anyone coming to one of our events worrying about whether they will have somewhere safe and private to go.
We cannot promise facilities that a venue simply doesn’t have, and we won’t pretend that we control a venue’s policies when we don’t.
What we CAN promise is that we will raise these matters with venues, ask the right questions before events and do everything reasonably within our power to make our events as safe, welcoming and accessible as possible.
Forge Festival was created around the idea that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy live music and the creative arts.
That includes making sure people feel safe while they’re there.
