Another Rewrite at Burniston & Cloughton Village Hall

MEET OUR CAST...

You may recognise Nathan Badger (and his collection of headwear) as a singer and entertainer who is a fixture on the Scarborough busking scene. While not entertaining the shoppers Nathan has regular gigs at local venues and events, including Scarborough Streets, singing vintage hits.

Nathan is another alumni of Tiny Time Tales at The Stephen Joseph Theatre and has a particular interest in comedy and voice acting. Nathan is a very versatile actor who specialises in mimicry with a vast catalog of accents and impressions. When not on the stage he is busy filming comedy shorts and making use of his impersonation skills.

Nathan plays Michael in Another Rewrite, an actor with a background in serious theatre. He is a reliable, predictable kind of guy but does he have leading man potential? Does he just need the right leading lady?

Another Rewrite at Burniston & Cloughton Village Hall

MEET OUR CAST...

Steven James Halkyard (aka Smallfry Steven) is a Scarborough based filmmaker, actor, musician, and production assistant with a passion for storytelling across stage and screen. A graduate of the University of Salford with a BA (Hons) in Media & Performance, Steven has appeared in productions including One Day, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Wizard of Maths, and numerous independent films and screen projects.

Steven recently took part in the Playwrights' Performance at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, where their love of theatre first began through youth and outreach programmes. Alongside acting, Steven works across film, music videos, and live events as a director, writer, editor, and sound designer, bringing a unique creative perspective inspired by dreams and surreal storytelling.

When not performing, Steven can be found making films, producing music, and DJing around Scarborough.

Steven plays Rick in Another Rewrite, one of the writing team of our Radio Drama. Rick is a bit of an outsider amongst our characters, not usually invited to recording sessions, but is keen to learn all the cast gossip!

Another Rewrite at Burniston & Cloughton Village Hall

MEET OUR CAST...

If you are an avid theatre goer you may recognise Hayley Marie Jacobs from the Stephen Joseph Theatre, where she has worked for almost 21 years. She is a local creative with a passion for the creative arts, both performance and visual art. She is a recent graduate of the BA (Hons) Acting degree at CU Scarborough where she developed an interest in voice acting. She also holds a BA (Hons) Creative Music Technology degree from the University of Hull where she graduated from in
2014.

Hayley has performed for most of her life dancing for many years with the Benson Stage Academy where she is trained in Tap, Ballet, Cheer, Strictly Solo, Street and Modern dance.

Her performance highlights include Agent Moth for ‘Grue’ Christmas 2022 (ARCADE), and voiceover work for Scarborough Streets (The Scarborough Fair).

Hayley plays Skye in Another Rewrite, a role which very much makes use of her talents as a voice actor. Skye embraces every new age trend in a quest for self improvement but "clean living" isn't as easy as it seems.

Another Rewrite

MEET OUR CAST...

You may recognise Rae Yaldren as an actor, musician and all-round creative, who had a starring role in The Last Orders during the 2025 Scarborough Fringe. She was actively involved in local theatre companies such as Cresta Players and Beach Hut before forming Third Element Theatre. Rae's roles have included parts in Tiny Time Tales and Love When It's Brass at the SJT, Macbeth, Oliver and Alas Poor Fred. During last year's Fringe Festival, Rae also wrote and performed in a children's play, Lucy Wizpop and the Bedtime Monster, which was nominated for an award for new writing.

Rae has extensive experience as a musician and singer-songwriter, performing and recording her own material as well as working with other musicians. Most notably Rae headlined the Heineken Music Festival in Dublin and recorded with Liam O Maonlai of Hot House Flowers for the album Trees of Life. Rae also leads creative workshops and develops creative community engagement projects with Arts Coven.

Rae Yaldren plays Elle in Another Rewrite, a much put-upon recording engineer who does far more than her job title suggests. When something needs doing it is usually her job and she can't always hide her growing resentment!

Another Rewrite

MEET OUR CAST...

You might recognise Chris Curtis, or his voice at least, as a former Yorkshire Coast Radio and Coast and County Radio breakfast show presenter. Chris remembers his first stage role as "Third Wise Man" in the Filey Infant School Nativity Play in 1969. It was after a 17-year hiatus that he says he was coerced back into dramatic acting and despite misgivings, discovered that he actually enjoyed it.

Chris won the Best Actor award at Saltburn Festival in 2014 and 2023, and was nominated for the same award at Sedgefield Festival in 2018.
He also appeared in a number of TV productions as an extra before finally landing his first professional credit in the 2019 BBC drama, Scarborough. Chris claims he is “not really a singer” but he has also been coerced into singing roles in musicals such as Sunset Boulevard, Betty Blue Eyes, Mr. Cinders and Pal Joey.

Chris Curtis plays Dan in Another Rewrite, the director of a radio drama. He takes charge, where possible, of an ill-fated recording session, which isn't going to plan. He is the company man in the room, the fall guy for everything that goes wrong and target of everyone's complaints.

Another Rewrite

MEET OUR CAST...

Martin Walker is another actor you may have seen in our play The Last Orders during the 2025 Scarborough Fringe. Martin's first taste of the local stage was in 1988 with the Scalby Pantomime before he moved back to West Yorkshire. There he continued acting in local productions and he says his favourite roles (in no particular order) have been:
Ray Say in Little Voice
Dave (the fat one) in Full Monty
Toad in Wind in the Willows
Jim Trott (3 times) in Vicar of Dibley and
Compo in Last of the Summer Wine.
Since returning to Scarborough he has become a regular 'baddie" in the Burniston and Cloughton Pantomime.

Martin embodies the character of "old theatre Luvvie" Owen. Our play centres around the recording of a radio drama, from which Owen has recently found out his character is being killed off. He is leaving the show amid rumours that he may be the mystery star involved in a scandal that has hit the press.

MEET OUR CAST...

Marlena O'Hare starred in our play The Last Orders during the 2025 Scarborough Fringe. She also won the monologue slam at the SJT, boosting her work in theatre, which has included roles as Mary Magdelene in Jesus Christ superstar and Mrs Potiphar in Joesph. She has featured in two short films Barnacle and Film Night but the production she is most proud of was playing Elizabeth Taylor in 3 Knights 2 Welshman and a Dame (The Richard Burton story).

Marlena was the obvious choice to play Femme Fetale Fiona. Our play centres around the recording of a radio drama in which Fiona plays a central character. She is a woman with hidden depths and a compelling back story, revealing the real Fiona.
