Part 2: Nocturne grew out the despair you feel when you think about species loss and global heating, but I suppose its viewpoint is irrationally optimistic - a dream that it could all be fixed.

For me being an artist could be very solitary, I could spend all day in my studio listening to podcasts and not seeing anyone, but part of my practice involves collaborating with other artists and I love it!

Part 1: I don’t usually post about the early experimental stages of my projects, but this one’s such a fun process. It’s called Nocturne.

This week I’ll be training a group of volunteers for TouchPoint, a fantastic charity in Stansted in Essex. This is a quick test to see which air dry clay is best for the workshop I have planned. I don’t usually use air dry, but in this instance it’s the best solution.

During lockdown, Clare wrote a book about the Gibson library - originally the Saffron Walden Literary & Scientific Institution started in 1832. 📍 Gibson Library, Saffron Walden

I'll be a keynote speaker on Wedsnesday, 13th May, at the Gibson Library AGM.

The speech will mainly be about the proposed memorial to do with the extraordinary meetings between the New Model Army and government commissioners in Saint Mary’s Church Saffron Walden.

I’ll also talk about some of my other public art projects that led to this commission, like the Kindertransport memorial, the commission for the national Army Museum, and the Great Barfield artists.
