Bute Yard, on Scotland’s Isle of Bute, is a modern, multi-use events venue with a taste for food & drink. It brings to life the vision of the late Johnny Bute, 7th Marquess of Bute, with its dual purpose of developing the Isle of Bute economy and its community through a collaborative approach. Bute Yard has partnered with the award-winning Isle of Bute Distillery, Bute Brew Co., Isle of Bute Smoke

house and ButeKitchen to bring the very best food & drink experiences Bute has to offer to the public, visitors and event organisers. Isle of Bute Distillery runs its distillery, including all tasting sessions and tours, from Bute Yard. The distillery’s relocation to Bute Yard also marks the return of Bute Brew Co, the island’s much-loved craft brewery, taking charge of the front bar. The Isle of Bute Smokehouse, founded in 1888 and still using Scotland’s oldest continuous production fish smoking kiln, will deliver smoked salmon, kippers and trout to order from Bute Yard. ButeKitchen, a local community initiative, will provide a range of delectable local and artisan foods and products to the public through market activities. A unique venue on the island, Bute Yard offers food & drink facilities, indoor and outdoor event spaces, as well as permanent and pop-up rental space. It’s ideal for special celebrations, markets, festivals, workshops, entertainment and community events. And alongside all of that, we’ll have our fantastic line-up of market stalls filling the Yard, with everything from art, jewellery and ceramics to handmade crafts, local produce, gifts and plenty more.

Our island busker Kenzie Mack will also be making an appearance, bringing some live music to the Yard as you browse, eat and enjoy the atmosphere.

Tomorrow evening, The Barden Party bring Macbeth: Blood & Bluegrass to Bute Yard for what promises to be a fantastic night of live theatre and music.

AN EMBODIED EXPLORATION OF VOICE, MOVEMENT & BREATH FOR DEEP REST & INNER BALANCE

Designed as a relaxing and uplifting autumnal experience, the morning will gently guide you towards connecting with your voice and body in a safe and supportive space.

Through music and somatic movement, you’ll have the opportunity to slow down and reconnect, alongside learning mantras and experiencing the simple joy of group singing.

No performance. No pressure.

Just an opportunity to explore movement, breath and your own voice as part of a shared experience, with Raquel and Anabrese there to guide you throughout.

The session has been created to leave you feeling refreshed, inspired and nourished as we move into the autumn season. 🍂

MACBETH: BLOOD AND BLUEGRASS – NEXT WEEK AT BUTE YARD 🎭

There’s just over a week to go until something very special arrives at Bute Yard.

Straight from their second appearance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, The Barden Party bring their critically acclaimed Macbeth: Blood and Bluegrass to the Isle of Bute as part of their 2026 Scottish tour.

This is Shakespeare – but perhaps not quite as you know it.

The multi-award-winning New Zealand company combines Macbeth with live bluegrass and Americana music, gender-blind casting and a completely fresh approach to one of Shakespeare’s greatest works.

Featuring music from the likes of Mumford & Sons, Dolly Parton and The Steeldrivers, the production moves from raucous and uplifting to poignant and darkly tragic, while retaining the power of Shakespeare’s original story.

Sparkle by the Shore is a brand-new creative workshop coming to the Bute Yard Tipi, hosted by Susan Whyte of Hattie FitsPerfect.

Spend a few relaxed and creative hours learning shimmering shoe-art techniques and transform your own pair of shoes into something completely unique. ✨

👠 WHAT TO BRING

You'll need to bring a pair of leather or faux-leather shoes that you'd like to transform.

✨ No experience is needed, and all the materials you'll need for the workshop are provided – you simply bring your shoes and Susan will guide you through the techniques.

Set inside our Tipi, it's a chance to enjoy a relaxed, sociable few hours of creativity right here on the Isle of Bute.
