What a daith piercing is

A Daith piercing goes through the small fold of cartilage in the inner ear, just above the ear canal. Some people claim it reduces migraine pain.

The theory behind it

Supporters believe the piercing may affect the Vagus nerve, a major nerve that runs from the brain through the neck and into the body.

The idea is that:
• The earring puts constant pressure on a specific point in the ear
• That point is similar to a pressure point used in Acupuncture
• The stimulation may influence nerves connected to pain pathways
• This could potentially reduce migraine signals

This concept is similar to Auriculotherapy, where parts of the ear are stimulated to affect other parts of the body.
