Get ready for some serious hard rock, punk and metal with distortion on full. Redstart’s own young volunteers take over the stage in an electrifying start for Redstart Community CIO’s brand-new home at Unit 45. And it’s completely FREE!

Echo Echo unforgettable upcoming powerhouse fusing gritty tones and huge scrapes with raw drums and vocals
Godsplit invading the stage with a mix of crust punk and sludge metal.
brandishing instruments one can only assume will be used for the purposes of heavy metal.

MUSIC IN REDHILL, REIGATE, AND HORLEY THIS WEEKEND

So, it is out in the wild – Redstart have taken over Unit 45 in The Belfry, and it will become “Unit 45” the Grassroots Music Venue for Redhill, Reigate and Horley. See what we did with the name?

More, Yes, we always shout more at our gigs, we want the Venue to be MORE, we want it to be a community space available for all. So, if you want to put on an event there, want to run a night there, do community activities there, we want to hear from you. We want Unit 45 to be a Community Asset for all to use.

It’ll start opening in next few weeks with a few selected events, especially at Arts Takeover so please come to have an early look and our official opening will be in October. Keep your eyes peeled.

The cat is out of the bag! ….. Redhill, get ready. Our new home for grassroots live music is opening upstairs in the Belfry.

It’s been our worst kept secret ever! We are buzzing to officially tell you that, after a year of bringing great local live music to the community stage in The Belfry, and thanks to the incredible support of The Belfry Centre and so many others, we’re finally moving into our own space upstairs.

Welcome to our new community grassroots music venue: Unit 45.

But we want it to be so much more than that. We want Unit 45 to be a place where people come together to discover live music, explore creativity, meet new people and celebrate the incredible talent in our community. An inclusive safe space.

Right now, our brilliant team of volunteers are hard at work transforming the space ready for Redhill Arts Takeover week on 5th September, when we’ll throw open the doors for the very first time.

We believe that a music scene isn’t just built by venues or bands, it’s built by the people who come along, get involved, and make things happen.

🎤 Got three songs and a bit of nerve?

We’re opening the Redstart Community Showcase to local musicians and we’d love to hear from you.

If you’re a solo artist or duo with a few songs you’d like to share, this is your chance to play on our outdoor stage as part of this year’s Reigate & Banstead Redhill Arts Takeover on Saturday 5 September outside Posadero Lounge

Whether you’ve been gigging for years or you’re looking for an excuse to dust off the guitar and play to a new audience, we’d love you to apply.

🎶 What we’re looking for:

- Solo artists and duos
- 15 minutes (up to 3 songs)
- Original music or creative interpretations of songs you love
- All genres welcome

We’ll be choosing a varied line-up of 5 local artists to celebrate the fantastic talent we have across our local community.

Are you a builder who could help Redstart create Redhill’s new live music venue?

Redstart is a charity working to bring more live music and a stage to Redhill, giving local musicians a place to perform and our community a place to see great bands.

Redstart is busy getting our new venue space in Redhill ready, and we need help from a builder to complete some essential works. These works will help make the venue safe and ready for the community. It includes fitting a Fire door into an existing wall and a 7m wide stud wall with several doors.

If you can help by giving us a reasonable quote for your labour – we will of course pay for all materials needed. Your support would help us greatly.

WHAT'S A REDSTART TO DO THIS WEEKEND

MUSIC LISTINGS IN REDHILL, REIGATE, AND HORLEY THIS WEEKEND

Coming up - Redstart at Arts Takeover – we're back and hosting two events for Reigate and Banstead council’s Redhill Arts Takeover – on Saturday 5th Sept from 11am to 6pm we have curated a music stage or is it a party stage.

We’ll kick off with some selected representatives from our community's local open mic scene, then local music legend Billie Fox will do a set, then local musician Tim Hain who has played with many legends including Bob Marley, then we have two of John Peels favourite Ska bands, the pioneering Potato 5 and the all-female Deltones. It’s going to be a party in Redhill and what is best it is all free. Authentic original music from Redstart.

Then on Saturday 12th September to close arts takeover, Redstart has been taken over by some of our younger volunteers to Unleash a show in a secret location. Three bands will be bringing it – Redstart Unleashed for Redhill’s Arts Takeover - look out for announcements.

Secret Location – hmmm, we think everyone knows where that will be.

Redstart was founded to improve the Music Scene around Redhill, Reigate and Horley. So, every week we scour the internet to provide a listing of local music events for you our favourite Redstarts to plan your weekend music. We don’t manage to get every gig and wish we could but we hope this is useful for our community.

We are supporting Arts Takeover in Redhill in September and we will have music on a stage outside the Posedero on Sat 5th September from 11am to 5pm

WHAT’S ON THIS WEEKEND – free listings

This week the Cage in Reigate was due to put on two live Music events, but they have been closed down by a Noise Abatement Order issued by our Local Council.

This has happened to the Cage in the middle of its live music outdoor season and means one less music playing pub in the local area. Hopefully this council officer led decisions will get reversed and to do this we must make sure our outrage over the closure is heard by local politicians. Please reach out and support the Cage if you can – an email to your local councillor or MP will always help.
