A Celebration of Artworks and Artists
Ramsgate Space
6-9pm
Saturday 28th Feb

Light Up Ramsgate is hosting a celebration and meet the artists event at Ramsgate Space, an opportunity to meet the trail team, network, and speak to the artists about their process and practise, in particular creating site specific works for business windows.

And of course celebrate the joy the trail brought to our town.

Selected artworks from the trail will be installed for the event, including a showreel of works and recorded interviews with some of the artists.

February 1st. The Snow Moon

Last day of Light Up Ramsgate seems a perfect end. Rooted in the transition from winter to spring, the Snow Moon represents renewal and rejuvenation. As the last full moon of winter, it signifies a turning point in the seasonal cycle, urging individuals to shed old habits and embrace new beginnings.

LOCATION CHANGE - Now presented at St George’s Church

Under the Same Stars is a giant, illuminated inflatable sculpture: a glowing constellation of stars, each one created by someone from Ramsgate.
Conceived by artist Carson Parkin-Fairley and co-created through workshops with local faith groups, community centres, and unaccompanied refugees, the piece is a celebration of togetherness. It invites us to remember: no matter where we are from or what we believe, we all live under the same stars.

Friday and Saturday 2-7pm
Sunday 5-7pm (following Floating Frequencies)

Its been a really fantastic addition to the light trail thanks to the additional funding from Arts Council England, and thanks to the motivation and energy of our lead artist, Carson, to get so many people involved at such short notice. Cant wait to bask under the glow of the stars.

Carson Parkin-Fairley is a multidisciplinary artist who explores worship, celebration, care, joy and storytelling through her practice. Her work is inspired by stories, religious iconography, shrines, and popular culture. She creates universes where ordinary people become extraordinary, building worlds that celebrate connection and kindness, and revealing the sacred in everyday life. She believes in art as service, accessible, intimate, and transformative, and constructs experiences that invite people to feel seen, cherished, and part of something larger. At its heart, her practice is an act of devotion: to celebrate, to care, to create joy and community, and to honour the holiness of being alive together.

So exited to have Jas Dhillon’s awe inspiring ‘Unconditional’ - in the image of the divine feminine Mother Nature - as part of Light Up Ramsgate for our final weekends. She is number 13 on the map, and is in Albert Court (behind Staple), in the window of Ramsgate Space. The most perfect place to sit with her at the brick sofa, nature bursting to come back to spring life all around 🌱 💟 🧱

We have been able to include this powerful work thanks to last minute funding from Arts Council England.

You can see her between 4pm - 10pm everyday until 14th February 💕 as part of the Ramsgate Winter Festival.

Unconditional

Commissioned by Glow Arts in 2022 as part of The Glow Illumination Trail, Unconditional was originally installed in a woodland setting, suspended amongst the canopy of trees - the surrounding air was filled with the smell of natural incense and the recoded sound of the classical Indian string instrument, the dilruba, playing Raga Kalyan by the amazing .amritkaur

Through the warm pink glow of a neon light, a representation of the divine feminine form of Mother Nature is presented.

Almost shrine like, she invites a moment of reflection and awareness of our intimate and inseparable connection to our Earthly home.

The space offers a place for us to rest, and to contemplate the abundant and unconditional love of Mother Nature, and our capacity to reciprocate it.
