We’ve just been sent this, and the team have suggested we share it with you - what an incredible honour to have His Majesty’s representative speak so highly about our event, community, wider town and the incredible scarecrow team!

“Dear Councillor Trish Smith and the Pudsey Scarecrow Festival Team,
Greetings
I hope you are safe and well
I am writing to express my heartfelt thanks for the wonderfully warm welcome, generous hospitality, and exceptional organisation that I received when attending the Pudsey Scarecrow Festival as Deputy Lieutenant representing His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Professor Adeeba Malik CBE.
From the moment of my arrival, I was struck by the friendliness, enthusiasm and community spirit that permeated every aspect of the festival. It was a genuine pleasure to spend the afternoon meeting so many remarkable residents, volunteers, families, stallholders and community groups whose dedication and pride in Pudsey were evident throughout the event.
The theme, "Royalty Throughout the Ages," was both imaginative and inspiring. The creativity, craftsmanship and humour displayed in the scarecrows were truly outstanding. Each exhibit reflected not only artistic talent but also the tremendous amount of time, effort and enthusiasm invested by local individuals, families and organisations. Judging the scarecrows was both a privilege and a challenge, given the exceptionally high standard of entries.
I particularly enjoyed walking around Pudsey Park and the surrounding event areas, taking time to speak with attendees and admire the many attractions that made the festival such a vibrant celebration of community life. The music, stalls and entertainment created a joyful atmosphere that brought generations together and demonstrated the very best of community engagement.
The opportunity to present the awards and address the audience was an honour. Seeing so many people gathered together in a spirit of friendship, fun and mutual support was a powerful reminder of the strength of local communities and the vital role that volunteers and community leaders play in bringing people together.
I was especially impressed by your commitment to keeping the event affordable and accessible for families at a time when many households continue to face financial pressures. This thoughtful approach ensured that everyone could participate and enjoy the day, which is a testament to the values underpinning the festival.
Please accept my sincere congratulations on delivering such a successful event. The Pudsey Scarecrow Festival is clearly much more than a family fun day; it is a celebration of community pride, creativity and togetherness that enriches the life of Pudsey and creates lasting memories for all who attend.
I would be grateful if you would convey my thanks and appreciation to everyone involved in organising, supporting and volunteering at the festival. Their hard work, dedication and generosity made the day a tremendous success.
Thank you once again for your kindness and hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my visit and shall look back on the occasion with very fond memories and with Pudsey Bear and Pudsey Town Mug !!!!!”

🌾 A HUGE THANK YOU FROM PUDSEY SCARECROW FESTIVAL! ❤️
What a day! As the gates close on another Pudsey Scarecrow Festival, we want to say an enormous THANK YOU to everyone who helped make today possible.
This really is a community event, and it simply couldn't happen without the huge number of people who give their time, skills, support and enthusiasm.
A massive thank you to all our volunteers — particularly those who were there early this morning setting everything up, those who kept things running throughout the day, and everyone who stayed behind afterwards to take it all down, clear the park, and litter pick. You are the team that makes the Festival happen.
Thank you to our wonderful sponsors and supporters, whose generosity enables us to put the event on for Pudsey each year.
A special thank you to our judges Rich Hod & Sam, and to Manoj Joshi DL, for joining us and helping celebrate the creativity of this year's entries.
🎵 Thank you to all our bands, musicians and performers, including Ryan Godfrey Music. And a special shout-out to the brilliant Matt Tiffany, juggling on his unicycle, who kept Pudsey Park entertained throughout the day! 🎪👏
Thank you to all our traders, charities and community organisations, and to Yorkshire Water, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, Janice and the First Aid team, and our PCSOs, who were busy security-marking bicycles.
And, of course, a big thank you to Ronnie the Rhino for joining the fun! 🦏
Our thanks also go to our brilliant Pit Stops at Pudsey Baptist Church and Crimbles Allotments, helping us spread the Scarecrow Trail beyond the park.
Most importantly, thank you to every single person who made and displayed a scarecrow — whether yours was in Pudsey Park, outside your home, at your business or somewhere along the trail. Your imagination, humour and hard work are what make the Pudsey Scarecrow Festival what it is. 🌾👑
And finally, thank YOU to everyone who came along today, bought a trail map, followed the trail, visited our stalls, watched the entertainment and supported the many local organisations involved.
We hope you went home with tired feet, plenty of photographs and a smile.
Pudsey built it. Pudsey supported it. Pudsey made it another fantastic Scarecrow Festival. ❤️
From all of us at the
Pudsey Scarecrow Festival Team
THANK YOU, PUDSEY! 🌾❤️
