I’ve spent a fantastic day with an artist friend at the Society of Wildlife Artists at the Mall Galleries.
I’ve come home fully inspired after watching a talk on sketching in the field (or ocean) and loved seeing the talent on display.
If you are in London, I can thoroughly recommend visiting.

I’m so happy that I have made the finals of Sketch for Survival 2026 with Explorers Against Extinction 😍

It’s incredibly hard to be seen as an artist these days and to keep working when art sales have taken a nose dive for everyone. Being a finalist in an international art award is so important to raise funds for wildlife conservation and also to keep my creative juices flowing!

All finalists will be:
🎨 Exhibited at the Crypt Gallery, Norwich, 1–3 October, and the Oxo Gallery, London, 18–22 November 2026.

🎨 Included in the Leisure Painter and The Artist magazines’ Sketch for Survival People’s Choice Award, giving the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite artwork.

It’s world lion day today! I’m about to start on some new lion paintings but thought I would share 2 of my older ones.

A few highlights from my first week at SanWild in South Africa helping rescued animals on a wildlife sanctuary. They care for animals rescued from circuses, the illegal pet trade, poaching and zoos.
We were lucky to assist the vet by carrying lions to have medical procedures, helping remove snare wires from a rhino and feeding and checking the wild animals on the reserve.

They do not allow petting of animals as support conservation and are facing a constant battle to stop illegal miners and poachers from entering their reserve.

I have taken so many photos to inspire my wildlife art so watch this space!

I received more fantastic news (after returning from South Africa) that my giraffe painting has been long listed in Explorers Against Extinction Sketch for Survival campaign.

I spent today varnishing it and will post it off to their HQ next week once it’s dry. I hope it will help raise much needed funds for their conservation initiatives.
