Day three was Jacqui's final day of training, and it was time to move on to a completely different product – my 2D raised outprint impression tiles.

These are often overlooked in favour of 3D casting, but they're becoming increasingly popular again, which is lovely to see. They're brilliant for wriggly babies, wriggly dogs and other animals that aren't always suitable for 3D casting.

We welcomed Emma Ferris and her beautiful baby boy, Caleb, into the studio. Caleb was very, very smiley and very, very wriggly, which was exactly what we needed for Jacqui to practise all the different techniques involved in creating these gorgeous raised outprint tiles.

Emma had already decided she wanted to purchase one of the finished products and chose Caleb's feet, which came as no surprise. She said hands can be quite tricky, so it gave Jacqui the opportunity to watch me demonstrate the process before having a go herself.

Emma, you were fantastic and so supportive, and Caleb was an absolute dream.

Jacqui started with Caleb's tiny feet before moving on to those super-wriggly little fingers.

Thank you so much, Emma, for coming along. Your finished keepsake is going to look amazing.

After Emma and Caleb had left, Jacqui learnt how to create one of my favourite products – a family and pet impression tile. Pickle, of course, stepped in as our canine model and was more than happy to oblige, as long as the treats kept coming.

Jacqui, you've completed three full days of training, which is an achievement in itself. You've embraced every challenge, learnt how to deal with mistakes when they happen, and are leaving with some beautiful product samples to continue working on and use to showcase your new business.

I wish you every success as you begin this exciting new chapter.

If you're considering a career change, have decided not to return to work after having your baby, or you're simply looking for a flexible business that fits around family life, perhaps 3D casting or 2D raised outprint impression tiles could be the next step for you.

Day two of Jacqui’s 3D life casting training at Precious Memories

Today we were joined by six-month-old Clayton and his lovely mum Naomi Sara Zoe.

A completely different experience compared to yesterday’s newborn session. At six months old, babies are far more active and wriggly, which is exactly why working with real-life models of different ages is so important when learning 3D casting.

This hands-on experience is what builds real confidence for anyone wanting to start a keepsake business from home.

I’m always very grateful to the parents who bring their babies along to support the training sessions. I couldn’t offer this level of realistic experience without them.

Today Jacqui created two hand casts and two foot casts for Clayton, and the results are beautiful.

She also showed real progress in the finishing stages of the process. Her airbrushing skills are developing well, and she is quickly gaining confidence with sanding techniques to achieve a smooth, professional finish.

These final details are what turn a cast into a luxury keepsake that families will treasure forever.

Clayton you were amazing and Naomi you were incredibly supportive thank you both!!!!! I think Jacqui really loved all the extra cuddles from you too Clayton ❤️

Tomorrow is Jacqui’s final day in the studio where she will learn 2D raised outprint tile impressions to complete her training here at the studio this week. It’s whizzing past and I can’t believe I get to call this work!

If you have ever thought about building a creative business from home around family life, this could be something worth exploring.

Message me if you would like more information about my 3D casting training courses.

A huge well done to Jacqui today on her first day of 3D casting training.

I think it’s fair to say she arrived feeling a little nervous. After all, it’s quite a responsibility being handed a beautiful six-week-old baby and being asked to create a perfect cast!

Thankfully, little Harlow was an absolute superstar and helped make Jacqui’s first day a great success. Just look at those tiny toes.

A big thank you to Harlow’s mum,Edita Parkinson , and her Auntie, Leanne, who were so supportive throughout the day. I never take for granted the families who help my students gain real hands-on experience.

Edita loved the casts so much that she’s having some made up as keepsakes. Babies change so quickly, and before long those tiny feet won’t be quite so tiny anymore.

Tomorrow we’ll be working with a six-month-old baby and learning some different techniques.

Well done, Jacqui. You should be really proud of yourself today.

Today I welcomed Tamara Kublashvili Photography to the studio to learn the art of raised 2D impressions and tiles.

Tamara runs a very successful newborn photography business in London and wanted to add keepsakes to the beautiful memories she already creates for families.

A huge thank you to Emma Jeffries, who kindly brought her beautiful daughter, Elowyn, along to be our model for the day. She was an absolute star.

Many people quickly discover that creating beautiful baby impressions is not quite as easy as it looks, especially when working with tiny hands that prefer to stay tightly clenched.

We started with feet, practising the correct pressure needed to achieve a perfect impression in the clay before moving on to hands. Tamara picked up the techniques quickly and produced some lovely work throughout the day.

Emma ordered two raised 2D tiles at the reduced training price – one for herself and one as a Christmas gift for a family member to remember this day - so precious!

Alongside baby impressions, Tamara also learned how to create pet paw prints. My amazing assistant, Pickle, was on hand to help demonstrate both a single paw print and one of my personal favourites – a family owner hand impression with a dog paw print in the centre.

A heartfelt thank you to Emma and Elowyn. I am incredibly grateful to the local families who support my training courses by bringing their little ones along as models. Their support gives students invaluable hands-on experience and confidence.

Tamara, you were brilliant from start to finish and I wish you every success as you introduce these keepsakes into your business.

If you already work with families, perhaps as a photographer, baby class provider or in another family-focused business, keepsakes can be a wonderful addition to your existing services.

I’d love to hear from you if you’d like to learn more about my training courses.

Today was a brand-new day, and Misha had the opportunity to put everything she learned yesterday into practice with the most beautiful little model, Lottie, who is just three weeks old.

A huge thank you to Lotties’s mum, Siobhan Candy, who was incredibly supportive throughout the session. I am always so grateful when parents trust my students to work with their precious newborns. It shows a real level of confidence in both my training and my students.

Like many people learning newborn life casting for the first time, Misha was understandably nervous at the beginning. Lottie was so tiny and delicate. However, as the day progressed, her confidence grew with every cast she created.

Just look at the detail in these beautiful baby hand and foot casts! The tiny wrinkles, folds and features have been captured perfectly, creating precious keepsakes that will last a lifetime.

As a thank you, Siobhan received her own keepsake kit to create special memories of Lottie.

Misha then moved on to the next stage of her training – creating an adult clasped hand cast. This process requires different measurements, ratios and techniques to achieve a truly professional finish.

It was wonderful to hear Misha say that this method was "next level" compared to a casting kit she had previously used.

The afternoon focused on finishing techniques, including sanding, framing and airbrushing. Airbrushing is becoming increasingly popular as it creates an exceptional finish and really brings casts to life.

Misha embraced every part of the process and particularly loved learning the airbrushing techniques. It's a skill she will now take back to Manchester and continue developing in her own studio.

Days like today never feel like work. I feel incredibly lucky to spend my time teaching a craft I have loved for over 20 years.

Misha, you were exceptional today. Watching your confidence grow has been a pleasure, and I cannot wait to see your keepsake business flourish in Manchester.

❤️ Well done!

If you've ever thought about starting your own keepsake business or adding life casting to your existing services, I'd love to help. Feel free to get in touch to find out more about upcoming training courses, ask any questions, or book your place on a future workshop.

Today I welcomed Misha Govshteyn, who travelled all the way from Manchester to Dorset to learn how to create professional 3D hand and foot castings with me here at Precious Memories.

Like many people, Misha had previously purchased a 3D casting kit, hoping it would help her create beautiful keepsakes. However, she quickly discovered that these kits aren't always as straightforward as they seem and often don't produce the professional results people expect. Wanting to learn the correct techniques and achieve consistently beautiful castings, she decided to invest in hands-on training.

We were also joined by the lovely Zoe Bungay and her beautiful baby son, Archie, who was an absolute joy to have in the studio. At seven months old, Archie was a classic wriggly baby, constantly on the move and full of smiles!

For Misha, it was important to learn how to confidently work with babies of this age and understand how to overcome the challenges that movement can bring before attempting any 3D castings.

We began by creating some beautiful foot castings before moving on to hands, which many students find particularly tricky. Misha did an amazing job and should be incredibly proud of what she achieved today.

A huge thank you to Zoe for bringing Archie along. He was the perfect little model and such a handsome boy.

Training with real baby models is such an important part of the learning process, as it gives students valuable hands-on experience and helps build the confidence needed to work successfully with families in a professional setting.

Tomorrow, Misha will return to work with a newborn baby model who is only 3 weeks old, create a handclasp casting, and learn the art of airbrushing and framing her finished pieces.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is watching students gain confidence as their skills develop throughout the course. Seeing that moment when everything clicks into place is priceless.

Thank you, Misha, for trusting me with your training journey. I can't wait to see what you achieve tomorrow.
