You know when you’re at work and you need to take a break and collect yourself…. In the 90’s when everybody smoked and that’s what your fag break did…however I’ve been clean living for so long now and needed an alternative…. Allow me to introduce you to my new ‘work guitar’ , a welcome addition to my little collection and remember, if anyone says you have too many guitars…. They’re wrong and you don’t need that sort of negativity in your life.

The face …. 😂😳 it’s a tricky passage and I’m trying to work out which fi*****ng makes the most sense so I recorded me playing the options so I could see …. This is my ‘classical guitar face’ apparently. Also when Brian W recorded it for me he played it at about half speed so I could hear it all …. I didn’t realise until later it rips along at break neck speed. Sadly all my guitar music went up in flames last year when some oiks set fire to a storage unit in our woods…. So I’ll have to make my best guess at Brian’s preferred fi*****ng…. Right now I have 2 options … both are really awkward…. If anyone knows how to play this bar post a video and tag me in it!!!

Page 3…. Half way through the allegro. I learned this piece back in 1996. I say that, my guitar teacher, Brian Whithouse being the kind hearted soul he was and knowing I couldn’t read music in any real functional way, made a tape for me , made me swear I would play it to no one and photocopied his score with his notes on it. I made the best job of it I could since I was moving from Coventry and that was my last lesson with him. I’ve had to learn from scratch since I’ve not played it in over 25 years and even then, I strongly suspect I made many errors in my interpretation of the score. Brian died last year, if you look him up you will see how highly regarded he was in the classical guitar community and I feel so lucky I had him as my teacher. So patient and kind and a wonder guitarist. For ever grateful 🙏 guitar

Me: ah you know…. Slowly, when you can’t read in a straight line and need to remind yourself EVERY SINGLE TIME what the notes above the stave are but I’m enjoying the process ….

I’ve been playing around with different chord voicings , working on this song , pen in hand making corrections as I need , TV on mute (don’t ask why ) and I nearly didn’t post cos some notes are a bit pitchy but that’s how song writing goes… this is how it goes … “lately(summer song)”

We went to Barcelona. The Sagrada de Familia is breathtaking, got a bit emotional when the organ started playing… glorious art, food and beaches
