About elephants 🐘🪽
They say that at thirteen, a child turns into a teenager. It’s that time when old fairy tales feel a bit too tight, and new meanings are only just beginning. It’s a doorstep you cross with a mix of care and a little bit of nerves.
Last weekend at The Workshop, we celebrated exactly that. A 13th birthday🥳. And the idea for this celebration belonged to the birthday girl herself. She came up with a task for real alchemists: to make something out of clay that just shouldn’t go together. So, our elephants had unicorn horns and tiny wings.
Clay doesn’t like haste. It asks for your warmth and presence. And as these creatures began to take shape in girls’ and boys’ hands, we realized: this is a manifesto. A reminder that’s so important at thirteen (and at any age, really).
Everyone, busy working their grey lump of mud, was creating their own version of strength and a bit of funk:
✨About being as big as an elephant, but still wearing wings.
✨About uniqueness being your “unicorn horn”, your own magic that you don’t have to hide, even if the world expects you to be “normal.”
The whole evening was full of that special kind of focus, giggles, whispers, and “I need more clay.” For some, it was the very first time touching clay, so there was some worrying. But then, pure joy, when a creature suddenly grows out of a cold, grey, shapeless lump, looking at you like: “Make me cute!”
Every creature has its own character and its own little weirdness. Just like everyone.
If you’d like to have a clay experience like this — warm, meaningful, and creative — we’d love to be your guide.
