🌟 Sunshine on Leith comes to Perth Theatre and Concert Hall

Perth Theatre is set to light up next week as Ad-Lib Arts brings back the much‑loved musical Sunshine on Leith, packed with the iconic songs of The Proclaimers and full of heart, humour, and proper Scottish spirit.

Running 24–28 June, this uplifting story follows servicemen returning home to Edinburgh and Leith, navigating love, family, and finding their place in the world. Expect big performances, emotional moments, and plenty of sing‑along favourites.

If you fancy a night of brilliant Scottish storytelling, this one’s for you.

The Heartland Festival team met this afternoon to discuss both the entry times and stage times for . Please read the following statement:

𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗬 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘𝗦
There are several reasons why we have stated that the last entry time is 6pm. We have an amazing group of volunteers who are giving up their time to help make the festival run as smoothly as possible, both at the gate and around the site. They will have been tirelessly working shifts throughout the day, and we would like to give them some time to enjoy the rest of the evening after 7pm with their friends and family. We have many excellent artists on both stages, and we encourage you to get down early to support them. Also, from a safety perspective, we would like to avoid a mad rush of people later in the evening, as the headliners are due to go on stage.

In the past few weeks, we have received some disrespectful comments, messages and emails aimed at the team from people expressing their concerns and opinions. This is not acceptable behaviour. Organising a festival is never easy, and we know we cannot keep everyone happy, even though we have tried to do so by adopting new policies to improve the experience for our festivalgoers.

𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: We have decided to remove the 6pm last entry across all three days. If you wish to arrive after this time, then you are welcome to do so. Please bear in mind that we will have a limited number of volunteers at the gate, so queuing times will be longer.

Below are the revised key times.

𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 – Gates open 3.30pm, first artist at 4.30pm, and the event closes at 10pm.
𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 & 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 – Gates open at 11am, first artist on Scottish Citylink Discovery Stage at 12.30pm, and the event closes at 10pm.

𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘𝗦
The stage times have not been released to date due to logistical reasons and last-minute changes to performance times across both stages. Releasing this information much earlier would have meant we would have had to provide further updates with revised changes.

We would like you to arrive as early as possible to support artists that you may not have seen or heard before.

𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: The Stage times for all three days, across both stages, will be released at 10pm this evening (21st June 2026). Please note that these times are subject to change.

Perth Musician Hitchhikes Across America for Scotland’s World Cup Return!

Perth’s own Logan Gilmartin is on an incredible journey right now, hitchhiking all the way from San Francisco to Boston (over 3,000 miles!) just to be there for Scotland’s first World Cup match in almost 30 years.

Not only is he determined to make it in time for Sunday’s game against Haiti, he’s also using the adventure to raise money for the Psoriasis Association, a cause close to his heart. Logan lives with psoriasis himself and has already raised 95% of his £1,000 target.

He hopes his journey will inspire others with the condition to feel confident and supported, saying he wants to “shine a positive light and show the world there are still some good people out there.”

To mark Scotland’s long‑awaited return to the World Cup, Logan has even released his own song — “Stevie Clarke’s Machine”, sampling Vance Joy’s Riptide.

Along the way, he’s been performing at open mic nights, relying on the kindness of strangers, and teaming up with fellow Scotland fans to keep moving east. A 60‑hour bus ride to Washington D.C. has already helped him close the distance, and now he’s hitchhiking the final stretch to Boston.

What a story. What a spirit. What a Scot.

Perth’s Little Streets Exhibition at Perth Museum

I popped into Perth Museum today for a first look at their brand‑new exhibition Vennels: Perth’s Little Streets, and honestly, it’s fantastic.

If you love our city’s history, hidden corners, and the stories tucked away in Perth’s closes, alleys and lanes, this exhibition is a wee treasure. It brings together centuries of Perth’s vennels, from their historic roots to the way they’re still shaping our streets today.

What makes it even more special is the addition of newly‑commissioned public artworks inspired by the craft heritage of the vennels. Six talented artists, working with Perth and Kinross Council Place Development team and the UNESCO Perth City of Craft and Folk Art designation, have created pieces that sit right at the heart of our bustling city centre. It’s a beautiful blend of old and new Perth.

It’s free to visit (donations welcome), and well worth taking an hour to wander through. A lovely reminder of how much history and creativity we have right here on our doorstep.
