Some journeys aren't measured in miles but in moments.
This is an invitation to slow down to gather around a living story that began deep beneath the rainforest canopy and has travelled through countless hands, hearts and generations to reach ours.
Together we'll explore the remarkable journey of cacao, share a nourishing feast, then as the sun begins to soften, we'll move as one community through the joyful experience of Human🎧Rhythms.
Whether you come alone or with friends, we hope you'll leave feeling a little more connected to yourself, to each other and to the living world around us.

Ever notice how a proper cup of ceremonial cacao feels different from normal chocolate or hot cocoa?

That’s because 10g of pure raw Criollo cacao paste is packed with magnesium, iron, theobromine, healthy fats and some of the highest levels of antioxidants found in any food.

This is why it feels so rich and grounding — like your body is receiving exactly what it needed.

From Pod to Cup to Rhythm
Saturday 22nd August • Old Ivy Farm ✨

Come for the whole journey or join us for whichever part calls you 🤎

🌱 POD TO CUP • A LIVING JOURNEY WITH CACAO
We’ll begin where chocolate truly begins with a beautiful fresh cacao pod. We’ll open it together taste the fresh fruit and follow cacao’s transformation from pod to bean to the cup in our hands.
Along the way we’ll share some of the deeper stories carried within cacao, its traditional uses and plant medicine, nutritional and potential health benefits, Indigenous cultural relationships with cacao and its sacred and ceremonial history. We’ll also make space for the history that is too often left out, colonisation, enslavement and the human cost woven into the cacao trade, alongside the people, lands and cultures from which cacao comes.
Not simply a chocolate-making workshop, but an invitation to taste, touch, learn and remember the whole story behind the cup. 🌱🤎

Calling cacao a “teacher plant” describes a relationship—not necessarily an ancient tradition.

Many modern cacao ceremonies are contemporary practices rather than direct continuations of historical Indigenous rites.

Not all cacao is created equal.
Most commercial cocoa is made from bulk varieties and heavily processed.

Our Criollo is rare, unroasted, unalkalised, and kept as close to the bean as possible — so you can actually feel the difference.

Swipe to see why it matters. Then come and encounter real cacao at From Pod to Cup to Rhythm, Saturday 22 August at Old Ivy Farm. Open a fresh pod, taste its fruit, prepare ceremonial cacao and share it with us through food, music and movement. 🤎

Have you ever tasted cacao before it becomes chocolate? 🌿

Open a fresh Criollo cacao pod and you’ll discover rows of seeds wrapped in soft, silky white pulp. The fruit is fragrant, juicy and naturally sweet—a wonderful surprise if you only know cacao for its deep, bitter flavour.

Hidden beneath that pulp is the seed we call the cacao bean.

Many Criollo varieties have unusually pale beans and lower levels of some of the compounds associated with bitterness and astringency. With careful fermentation and drying, they can develop a beautifully delicate and aromatic flavour—but every cup begins here, inside the living fruit.

Come and see, touch and taste it for yourself at From Pod to Cup to Rhythm on Saturday 22 August at Old Ivy Farm.

During our hands-on workshop, we’ll open a fresh Peruvian Criollo pod, taste its sweet fruit and follow its journey from seed to ceremonial cacao—before sharing a cup and dancing together. 🤎

Most chocolate is made from bulk cacao.
Criollo is different.
It is rare, aromatic, and full of character.
The trees grow slowly in the shade of the forest, and the beans carry that story into the cup.
At IxCacao we work only with Criollo from the Junín region of Peru — kept pure from pod to paste.
Swipe to learn why it matters.
