‘The Music Alley’ is an exciting initiative at Penarth Ex-Servicemen’s Club (the Ex’s) which has revitalised the live music scene in the town. Over the past year, this venue has been establishing a reputation for bringing some of the greatest live music to Penarth. Recent bands have covered a wide range of genres including well known South Wales bands such as Stonehouse, Jimmy Mac and the Fugitive
s. Also, the reformed Blue Traffic made a triumphant return to Penarth with their trademark guitar-led classic rock set.
2023 will also bring some exciting new bands to The Music Alley along with some special ticketed events in the larger Function Room upstairs. The bands are sourced and booked by me, volunteer organiser Di (Dianne), who fortunately has many great contacts within the South Wales music scene. What’s great is that not only have the audiences enjoyed the shows, but the bands have also appreciated a venue that lets them give their best. Our aim is to put on real gigs that deliver a proper night out, not just background music. The Music Alley is a work in progress with lots of new additions to the room being made and planned for the future. The role of booking the best bands is not as simple as it sounds...there is a lot of work involved and I do try to make it as welcoming and friendly as I can. It’s all done with pride and passion for the love and support of keeping music live! Everyone is welcome at the venue, please keep supporting it, the bands and the great live music in our town
