🎭 Democracy in Action: The Kids Have Spoken! 🎭

Recently, this amazing group took total ownership of choosing our next big shows. Instead of the adults picking, our young actors pitched ideas and chose the direction of Peebles Youth Theatre's focus for our next two productions.

Through incredible teamwork, they successfully locked in both our next Spring production and our Christmas Panto for 2027!

The kids had to think like real producers, looking at everything from budgeting and staging to technical details and making sure the shows are fun and suitable for all ages.

These are the kinds of skills that PYT helps develop, and they transfer right over to the stage to make the experience that much better for everyone involved!

📢 QUIZ NIGHT UPDATE: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

We are very sorry to announce that our upcoming Peebles Youth Theatre Quiz Night on Friday, 11 September has been cancelled.

Unfortunately, we haven't quite had enough teams sign up to make it the competitive, exciting night we had hoped for!

We want to ensure any event we host is an absolute blast for everyone involved, so we’ve made the tough call to hit pause on this one.

Looking to the future...We love bringing the Peebles community together and we promise there will be more PYT events in the future. But to help us get it right next time, we need your help!

Last week, our young actors enjoyed a wonderful day watching more musical productions. This was a fantastic learning experience that will allow them to bring the skills they saw on the Edinburgh stages back to our own in Peebles!

There are still spaces available for our local quiz night at the Rugby Club next month. It promises to be a great event and will help us raise vital funds to make our future productions even more rewarding for the children.

📸 Great day for PYT at the Fringe! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🎭 What a brilliant trip to Edinburgh! As young actors, it was fantastic for our squad to take in some incredible professional performances and learn from the best in the business. 🎬

So much was packed into the day! They watched the live cast nail their immersive character work, comedic timing, and real scares on a great, theatrical immersive set at the Edinburgh Dungeon.

They also caught the smash-hit comedy magic parody show Barry Potter and the Magic of Wizardry live at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe! This parody will surely give our young cast plenty of inspiration for our upcoming pantomime in December: Beauty & The Beast (tickets available here: https://eastgatearts.com/whats-on/beauty-and-the-beast).
