When asked to work extra at the theatre but this would mean postponing pupils lessons this week!
There was only one thing to do …. Take them to work with me !
A great night had by all watching Barnum this evening.
I only got to see you all briefly before the show but there was one tiny moment when I got to look at the audience from backstage. Seeing your faces totally absorbed in the show was just amazing. ❤️

At the beginning of this season we challenged these two to create and write their own variety act ( with our support) and to enter it for Stairway to the Stars ! Back in July they successfully gained a place in the semi final and set to work writing their next act. Yesterday they stepped out on stage with completely new material and lit up the stage with their personalities!
They only went and did it, winning the judges vote and through to the finals!!
I would say that I couldn’t have been more proud of them last night but this morning I received a video asking me to check over some choreography ideas!

There they were side by side - furniture pushed to the side of the living room as they set to work tweaking material and creating a new act for the finals.
These are the moments it is all about ❤️⭐️🎉

It’s been a very busy day of 1st time events for us here today!
Beatrix started the day stepping out of her comfort zone performing live onstage for the first time as part of the big belt off. One of the very youngest performers she wowed with her vocal performance. This evening we just managed to get over to Totnes in time to catch Drew taking part in her very 1st open mic night. At just 13 years old Drew performed her own original song and played guitar for the first time onstage. She looked like she had always been up there.
Meanwhile JL2 secured their first booking, just 2 days after their debut as a double act.
Watching your confidence grow and develop as you create your own original material has been amazing today. ❤️

JL2 made their first appearance as a variety entertainment double act this evening - and Won the judges vote to the semi finals🥇
Jodie and Lydia have been duet partners in dance, music and drama festivals for many years forming a strong chemistry and unique bond between them.
This year we challenged them to write an produce their own variety double act to incorporate and utilise their many talents.
Tonight with only 24hours notice they took to the stage at Stairway to the Stars 3 weeks earlier than planned. With their own vocal arrangements, harmonies, styling and script JL2 sang and danced their hearts out.
The girls performance was praised for professionalism, chemistry and their performance interactions- I could not be more proud ❤️

Congratulations to Lydia who came 2nd in the musical theatre championship @ Plymouth Dance Festival. Lydia has had a great year of progress with her Musical Theatre acting through song training, Earlier today Beatrix earned herself a third place bronze 🥉utilising her acting and vocal talents for the first time solo in her musical theatre section. ❤️

What a way to end the school year! Our final set of Lamda exam results are in. This Summer 43 pupils took their solo acting exams with us in 3 different settings.
Today’s final results saw all of the pupils from Act Torbay gain Distinction!

Pupils from all our teaching settings have been working hard with 94% of pupils being awarded Distinction overall.

I couldn’t be more proud of the progress and achievements pupils have made over the course of the last year.

Have a fantastic Summer holiday, enjoy the sunshine and relax. I am so proud of you all. ☀️👏😘

A beautiful summers day for our musical theatre pupils.
Lydia gave a heartfelt acting and vocal performance at All England Dance semi finals in Cheltenham.
Meanwhile at Taunton Festival of the Arts Jodie and Beatrix were awarded 2nd 🥈 place with their new Musical Theatre acting duet. 🥧
Well done to everyone this week. Have a well earned restful weekend ❤️

School outing to West End Calling semi final in London today. Results won’t be in for a little while yet but whatever they are we have had a great experience working and performing live in the West End. A little trip to the performance and theatre exhibition at the Victoria and Albert museum before the long journey home. Congratulations to Lydia who made it through to this level getting through the initial audition and regional heats to join the semi finalists selected from the thousands of entries across the uk. ❤️
