Project Opportunity: β€˜We Were Known’ πŸ“Έ

An exciting new protect by photographer Jacqui Devenney is currently ongoing, providing an exciting opportunity for Ulster-Scots to contribute to a very important piece of work! πŸ™‚

Jacqui explained, β€œI am currently seeking participants for a new photographic and heritage project exploring the lasting legacy of Donegal emigration to Scotland through contemporary Wet Plate Collodion portraiture.

The project will bring together descendants of Donegal emigrants living in both Donegal and Glasgow, with a particular focus on connections to East Donegal and the histories of workers and families who travelled to Scotland across generations.

I am interested in meeting individuals and families who feel a connection to these histories through parents, grandparents, inherited stories, memory, place, labour, migration, or identity.

Participants will take part in a contemporary portrait sitting using the historic Wet Plate Collodion process, alongside informal conversation around family history and connection.

The project is collaborative, respectful, and rooted in lived experience and personal connection rather than formal historical knowledge.

The work will culminate in an exhibition at Donegal County Museum, Letterkenny in October.

If you, a family member, or someone you know may be interested in taking part, I would love to hear from you.

Please feel free to message me directly or email:
[email protected] or call 0894094902

Please spread the word about this exciting opportunity to anyone you feel might be interested πŸ’™
