The collection of photos from 1945 and how England looked like through the lens of photographer Kristoffersson is being updated.

I am currently scanning through the original negatives and find some extraordinary photos.

It will take some research to caption the pictures.

A street scene in London with a man resting on a cart while people are walking past him. I wish i could find out more but even without the details the picture is a piece of post-war Britain.

Please do share and help me with my mission to create interest in the "never seen before" photos from the depth of my archive.

Perhaps a saturday night?

The inside of the Stage door canteen in London.
The crowd in the audience is enjoying a show on stage and laughs and are happy.
Even if the picture was taken just after world war II had ended, they are wearing uniforms.
They are a fortunate group of army men and women having the luck to survive the war. That feeling must have been overwhelming.

It would be a dream to get the comment: "i recognize the girl in the middle, she is my grandmother".

Please share. I would be happy for the attention.

Have a great saturday evening.

After the end of the second world war 1945, new houses were constructed to replace many bomb-damaged houses. A house is under construction and two women are having a look inside.

Many of the houses were of the pre-fabricated kind. Made in sections and was easy to and fast to build.
The two women looks up at the construction with a carpenter visible in the window opening.

One of many pictures by photographer Kristoffersson who captured the life of the ordinary people at this time.
Sorry to say, i don't have the names but it's still a charming photograph.

Please share and comment.

Two men are seen tearing down parts of a building in central London. The thick brick wall could have been constructed during world war II to protect the buildings structure or an entrance to a bombshelter. At this time in the autumn of 1945, the war is over and there is no more need to have the construction. London 1945.

A rare picture of "ordinary" people working for their living and i can imagine he relief the people felt when there were no more bombs falling.

Thank you new followers! I hope you enjoy the photos from the past. It's important to remember history in both large and small.
Have a nice weekend.

Dinnertime! The family is gathered at the dinner table, nicely set with a homemade patterned tablecloth. There's so much food on the table that there's no room for moore.
Plates with cooked meat, vegetables and more. Different kind of add-ons for flavor, a sauce cup.
I'm impressed but i think having the photographer in the house made the mrs do her very best efforts. I honestly think the man of the house had little to do with the cooking, setting the table... It's that generation of man...
They live in a house and through the windows you can see a large garden.

Lastly, and i didn't notice this before, the cat. Look in the lower right corner you see the sweet cat begging for something yummy.
It's the autumn of 1945 and World war 2 had just recently ended.

Please share if you will.

In the autumn of 1945 the man in the picture spoke his mind. At the classic Speakers corner in London. A public space that then (not sure nowadays) was the place for the public to make their voices heard. I guess about everything, misfortune, religion, finance, taxes, injustices.
But it's another matter to have listeners. Perhaps he has something to say that makes people stop.
A sign below him indicates a religious opinion.
World war II had just recently ended in Europe so people could finally think and do something else rather then worry and be afraid all the time.

I believe this is a scene at a London park and lake. A place for Londoners to relax and enjoy the nature within the city limits. Must be fun to row and canoe the little lake as something citypeople not so often does.
It's the autumn of 1945 and by the looks of it, it's a nice, sunny and warm day.
It must have been a relief and a rather strange feeling that World War II finally was over. Everyday life has begun and the postwar era of reconstructing a nation is in progress.
I guess the small pleasures as spending a few hours in the park, must have been valueable.

Do share my post, it would be nice to reach more people interested in the photographs dating from just after the World War II had ended.

An incident on Grenville street in central London 1945.
After a car accident the driver is rushed to the hospital and is on a stretcher into the ambulance. It must be the ambulance crew who carries him and a police officer standing beside. The driver doesn't look very injured thankfully.
Photographer Kristoffersson might just have passed when this happened and took some pictures. Glad that he did.
An everyday event i'm afraid with car accidents, it should not have to be.
This is the time just after world war II had ended 1945 and glimpse of the people carrying on with their jobs and their lives.

A welcoming sign for private Bob hangs on a house in London in the autumn of 1945.
The text on the sign says he's been a soldier in North-Africa and on Sicily from 1942 till the end of the war in Europe 1945.
Since there is no information left from the photographer i speculate that he is expected to arrive home soon.
Perhaps the woman in the picture is his wife.
The house is decorated with banners and flags. Too bad not to have the picture when he actually comes home...
Although this scene was not for all. The soldiers who did not return. I am glad that there still is a remembrance day to keep their memory alive.

Please feel free to share this. 🥰

A chair ticket. A small fee to pay to have enjoy a day in the park, in a park chair. The dog must be included.

In a London park 1945.

The gentleman who goes around and sells the tickets holds his hand out and the lady puts the coin/coins in his hand.

She just want to sit in peace and read the newspaper, looking at people, enjoying herself in the company of her dog.

When there are no information about the old negative original it's a harmless fun i think to speculate but that's how far i go.

A moment frozen in time in a picture taken in the autumn of 1945. World war II had just recently ended.

Please share this post, it would make me happy.
