I knew this piece was special as soon as I finished it… I’m officially a finalist 💚

Earlier this year I was thrilled to learn that Held in the Green had been shortlisted for the SAA - Supporting All Artists Artists of the Year 2026.

I can now finally share that it has also been selected as a finalist for the Artists of the Year exhibition in London this October! ✨

The painting will be exhibited at Cass Art Cass Art Kingston Art Space, London from 7–11th October, alongside the other selected finalist works.

Held in the Green is part of my ongoing exploration of nature, colour and atmosphere, capturing that feeling of being surrounded and immersed in the landscape. 🌿

I’m so excited to see this piece make it to London and incredibly grateful to have it recognised in this way. 💚

A recent commission created to become part of a home. 💙

This bespoke pair of 60 x 80cm canvases was created for a living space, with the brief to bring depth, texture and rich blue tones into the interior.

I wanted the paintings to feel atmospheric and calming while still making an impact on the wall. Layers of deep navy, ocean blue and softer misty tones were built up with highly textured details and expressive mark-making, creating pieces that reveal something new the closer you look.

The beauty of commissioning artwork is that it can be created specifically for your home, your colour palette and the feeling you want a space to have.

Bespoke artwork can completely change the feeling of a room. ✨

If you’re looking for original artwork created specifically for your home, my commissions are always open. Send me a message to discuss your space 💌

Where the Wildflowers Meet the Storm

A new felt landscape, imagined rather than remembered. 🌿

I wanted this one to feel like standing in a landscape just after the weather has shifted — deep greens, moody skies, flashes of colour and wildflowers catching the light.

I love how the little bursts of yellow appeared in the foreground. They weren’t really planned, but they feel like they were needed. 💛

Another landscape built from feeling, colour, texture and imagination.

If you think about it every single day… maybe that’s your sign not to give up. 🤍

I’ve had plenty of moments where I’ve questioned whether I’m doing the right thing, whether my art is going anywhere, or whether I should just stop.

But then I remember how much I love creating. The ideas that keep coming back. The pieces I can’t stop imagining. The feeling when something finally comes together. That’s my why 🤍

A little piece of the landscape, captured through colour, texture and feeling. 🌿

Part of my felt landscape collection, a series of small original paintings inspired by the way a landscape can make you feel rather than simply how it looks.

The reality of trying to make a life from your art… 🎨

There are days when I feel incredibly proud of how far my artwork has come, and there are days when I wonder whether I’m actually getting anywhere at all!

Building an art career can feel like such a strange mixture of highs and lows. There have been commissions, exhibitions, sales, galleries, opportunities I never imagined I’d have, and then there are quiet periods where the enquiries stop and the self-doubt creeps in.

But then something happens that reminds me why I keep going.

Recently, I’ve had some really exciting things happening behind the scenes, things I can’t quite share just yet! But stay tuned!

It’s easy to look at an artist’s Instagram and see the finished paintings, exhibitions and successes without seeing all the uncertainty that sits behind them.

So I’m trying to celebrate the little wins more. To keep painting when I don’t feel inspired. To keep putting my work out there when it feels uncomfortable. And to trust that the quiet periods don’t mean nothing is happening.

I don’t know exactly where this journey is going to take me, but I know I want to keep finding out. 🤍 so here’s is some photos of my little art evening ella’s of Davenham

Felt Landscape - A New Collection 🤍

I’ve always been drawn to nature, but recently I’ve found myself exploring the landscape in a completely different way.

Felt Landscape is about painting the feeling of being somewhere, rather than painting exactly what I see.

I’m not working from photographs or trying to recreate a particular place. Instead, I’m allowing colour, texture, movement and mark-making to lead the way.

The rolling fields, changing light, wildflowers and open spaces become a starting point for something much more intuitive and personal.

Felt Landscape, the beginning of a new collection. Keep your eyes peeled for more of these! 💚

Where the Light Finds the Land 🌿

A recent bespoke commission, two canvases coming together as one expansive abstract landscape.

My client wanted something soft, calming and inspired by nature, so I worked with gentle greens, blues, lilacs and warm touches of yellow to capture the feeling of a peaceful landscape rather than a literal view.

I loved creating something so personal and completely unique to their home. 🤍

Have a favourite place, landscape or colour palette you’d love turned into a painting? Send me a message, I’d love to create something for you.

I've been keeping this idea close to my heart for a while, and I'm so excited to finally share it...

Introducing Held in Bloom by Lydia Mansell.

A collection of bespoke impressionist bridal bouquet paintings, created to preserve the feeling, not just the flowers.

Flowers have always been at the heart of my work. They represent love, celebration, memories and the moments we never want to forget. With Held in Bloom, I'll transform your bridal bouquet into an expressive piece of art, capturing its colour, movement and emotion, rather than creating an exact botanical replica.

Whether you're planning your wedding, have recently said "I do", or have been married for years and still treasure your wedding photographs, your bouquet can be reimagined into a timeless painting. All I need is a selection of photographs to create a bespoke artwork that celebrates your story.

As I begin this exciting new chapter, I'd love to connect with brides, wedding planners, florists, photographers, venues and bridal boutiques who share a love for thoughtful, beautiful details. If you'd like to collaborate, commission a painting, or know someone who would, I'd love to hear from you.

This feels like such a natural extension of my artistic journey, and I can't wait to start telling your stories through paint.

Held in Bloom - Preserving the feeling, not just the flowers.* 💐✨

One of my favourite pieces has found its forever home, and seeing it hanging in such a beautiful space is incredibly special. 💙

There’s something so rewarding about knowing a painting you poured so much into becomes part of someone else’s everyday life.

Thank you for giving this piece a home where it truly belongs. Seeing photos like this reminds me exactly why I paint. ✨

If you would like to have one of my paintings for your space, please message me 💙
