But first, there’s this.
Boilers formed as part of the Riotous Collective in Leicester, a group encouraging women to start playing music and form bands. Started by Ruth from Po!, the group has caused Leicester to become the female punk band capital of the U.K., and inspired the BBC’s ‘Riot Women’ drama. If you watched that and sang along to the “give me my HRT!” line from the fictional band, you’ll love “Give Me” by Boilers, where the line was stolen from.
Opal BandUk are a new, young band from Northampton. Their originals are already sounding great, with their newest giving (to us at least) Broken Social Scene “Almost Crimes” vibes. They’re going to be brilliant.
House of Cats are a post punk shoegaze adjacent duo, blending drum machines, delay drenched guitar, and chorused bass to create something genuinely new sounding. Their debut album “Entrance” is out now.
Emmi Fortune is a singer songwriter who specialises in the messy parts of life, presenting her sharply observed songs in a genuinely beautiful voice.
