Hi All,
I was looking for something on the old notes programme on my Mac. I found a review from the (very) early noughties.
Ozzy-Emo-Punk-Blues...whatever..FUZZY LOGIC demo
Written by James Cross
So angry that the tunes actually smash up your stereo. Fuzzy Logic - don`t p**s them off... A Super Furry Animals cover band they are not... So, they’ve been in your face for a while now and the hardest working band in this town over recent months have finally concocted a demo/EP/whatever it may be...
A while back now I received a demo from Fuzzy Logic. It was rough, raw and extremely long (11 track demo - huge! - but not as huge as the mammoth 14 track Majuri Bullet offering back in the day). But now, they've taken their favourite 3, polished them up and sound completely different to their original offering, and they are neatly presented in demo form.
"But James whats the vibe, man?" you call out.
So here we go, I press play and first up is "Get Me Through The Night". The band go straight in to the standard Northampton rawk guitar chugging intro - which is a little lengthy - but then the vocal kicks in and completes the puzzle. Fuzzy Logic are a band with severe attitude and I get the feeling they could handle themselves in a scrap. Lyrical genius, decide for yourselves, but we all may pause for thought on the line "Sometimes enough just isn’t enough, but somehow it gets me through the night". What’s that all about?
"Watch The Ashes" springs into life in a similar vein, with opening lyrics about Limes - genius. A song with the now standard Logic ingredients of Guitar Solo, Attitude and a few cuss words. This is probably the weakest of the three tracks, as it lacks the punch of the other two.
"OK" - great tune, crap title. Starts a bit more mellow, but punches in with some "monster" catchy hooks, and some wonderful harmonies. "OK" is a great tune that takes a post-brit pop-rock edge. Think Ash, Seafood type stuff.
At times it's cheesy, at times it is complicated (I feel a k**b joke coming) but it's got soul. Music that you'll find yourself tapping your foot to and pondering dusting down your biker leathers. But I feel this isn’t the direction they want to or should be going in.
So what are Fuzzy Logic?, an eclectic mixture of rockstar spandex, Dury-esque poetry, tasteless guitar indulgence that would put Hendrix to shame and a who-gives-a-flying-f**k attitude that kicks messers Young and Gates firmly in the jewels.
Good work boys, release this demo and help promote the nation's fading Lime industry.
