Behind every major concert lies weeks (or more) of rehearsals, a process involving exploration, interpretation - and a lot of fun too! These photographs by Phil Rowland offer a wonderful behind-the-scenes glimpse as FCMG singers prepared for a celebration of the music of Villa-Lobos at LSO St Luke's last month with pianist Marcelo Bratke and soprano Camila Provenzalle.

A wonderful article here in Gramophone magazine written by friend of Finchley Children's Music Group, Martin Cullingford, about Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos.

Looking forward to bringing his pieces for children's choir to life this Saturday 16 May at LSO St Luke's.

Less than a week now until the multimedia celebration (featuring soprano Camila Provenzalle and video by artist Mariannita Luzzati) of Villa-Lobos and the inspiration of childhood and nature on his music - LSO St Luke's, Saturday May 16, 7.30pm. We're thrilled that Dead Man Walking at English National Opera has been nominated for Best New Opera Production at the 2026 Olivier Awards – our singers hugely enjoyed being part of this powerful work, and we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed on April 12th when the winners are announced at the Royal Albert Hall!

The production of Jake Heggie’s opera, directed by Annilese Miskimmon and conducted by Kerem Hasan, was highly acclaimed, receiving 5 star reviews from The Telegraph ('a triumph'), The Times ('contemporary opera at its very best'), The Guardian, FT, Bachtrack, The Arts Desk, The Express and Opera Now ('a complete masterpiece').
