A Bittersweet Farewell

To our cherished community,

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Dragonfly Paranormal LTD, the public events arm of the Dragonfly Paranormal group. This journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, filled with unforgettable encounters, shared curiosity, and the magic of the unexplained.

We are deeply grateful for every moment you spent with us—whether you joined an investigation, shared your stories, or supported us from afar. Your enthusiasm and dedication brought life to every event and made this endeavor more rewarding than we could have imagined.

This is a decision we haven't made lightly or without thought. As always, we remain transparent to those who support us and in light of this here is the reason behind the closure of our public investigation events:

Since the COVID debacle, the Limited company has struggled to recover financially, with rising venue hire prices, insurances etc. then add to that falling ticket sales has led to the team personally having to find the shortfall to cover the costs to ensure our community still had access to their beloved events organised by the team. However, as you can imagine this is not and never will be a sustainable business model.

So although this chapter is closing, Dragonfly Paranormal’s spirit lives on in the connections we’ve made and the memories we’ve created together. This is not goodbye—it’s a heartfelt thank you for being part of our story.

So, In 2020 the UK government Gov.UK implemented Compulsory Emergency First Aid Education. "All state-funded schools in England have, since September 2020, been required to teach Health Education. The statutory guidance, to which schools must have regard, sets out that this should include basic first aid for primary school children, for example dealing with common injuries. Pupils in secondary schools should be taught further first aid, for example how to administer CPR and the purpose of defibrillators." https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/first-aid-in-schools/first-aid-in-schools-early-years-and-further-education

How many of us parents actually know whether or not our children are receiving this as part of their education? I don't (luckily both my kids know the basics of how to make an emergency call and how to do chest compressions) but how many of yours do?

It has also been mandatory under health and safety (first-aid) regulations 1981 that all employers have a duty to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.

So why does this not extend to customers?

You could argue that they may have been unaware that an incident was occurring, but then why would a door supervisor block off access if the other staff were unaware of the situation arising?

My colleagues and I will be setting up a petition for more stringent measures to be implemented on employers where their staff are in a customer facing role and require workplaces to provide relevant and appropriate training for all staff. The petition will also beseech the Government to provide additional funding to enable Schools to access external training providers to ensure that they are meeting the requirements set upon them with regard to First Aid.

NHS England is hosting two free public Q&A sessions on Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) on Microsoft Teams. 👇🥕

The sessions will give parents/carers/families the opportunity to ask expert panel questions about ARFID. The panel includes an Advanced Practice Dietitian, Psychologist, and Occupational Therapist.
