We’re so honoured and thrilled to have been invited to work with Dartmoor National Park to create the collage celebrating the 75th anniversary of its official designation as a National Park.
'Haytor – A Dartmoor Icon' - by artist Glen Middleham - was created using archive materials from Dartmoor’s record libraries, bringing together layers of history, landscape and storytelling. Hidden throughout the artwork are wildlife, pixies, poetry and Dartmoor’s much-loved letterbox stamps.
Glen explains why Haytor became the focus of the piece: “I have vivid memories of family trips to Dartmoor as a child, and this particular view of Haytor has stayed with me ever since. To be invited to create this piece has been an absolute honour.”
The print is available in a limited edition of 75, with proceeds supporting the work of Dartmoor National Park Authority to help protect, conserve and celebrate this unique landscape and its cultural heritage.
Will Dracup, Dartmoor National Park Authority Chair, said: “We’re delighted to be working with a local business and such a talented artist on this celebratory piece of art, marking the 75th Anniversary of Dartmoor National Park’s designation.”
“The archival content included within the work is meticulous, and the print truly represents what makes Dartmoor so special.”
Prints can be ordered from The Jam Gallery on North Street, online at madebyjam.co.uk and at Dartmoor National Park Visitor Centres.
