Wow! What a fabulous skills session we had today with four potential new members joining us alongside many of our current members to work on the scripts of some of the plays we’re considering touring next season. What a talented group we’ll be working with next year. We can’t wait to get going on our new plays in Sept/Oct.

Another of our long standing members leaving us this season is Haydn, who's been with us since 2023, and was in Cornish Tales in 2024, in two plays, A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2025 and this season he's been in The Importance of Being Earnest. Haydn was also involved in the Blystra Arts' Stories from the Station project in Sept to Nov 2025, performing at The Headland Hotel in Sept and then acting in one of our Stories from the Station films in Nov 2025.

Haydn, like so many of our members is off to study acting (if he gets the required grades, which we're sure he will) at LMA.

There is one last chance to see Haydn this season at Penlee Park Open Air Theatre in our final show of the season on the 20th July at 7.30pm. We hope to get a great audience for this show to send all our long standing members off with a bang. Spread the word.

In the meantime, we want to wish Haydn all the success in his acting endevours. Hopefully we'll see him in a theatre, or on our screens very soon.

Several of our long standing members are leaving us this season and going on to do amazing things with their futures. One of our most long standing members, Emily, who's been with us since 2022, when we restarted CYTC up again after Covid is off to RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) in Sept to study Technical Theatre and Stage Management. We couldn't be more proud of this achievement. Well done Emily!

Emily has been in five plays with the company, starting with Lord of the Flies in 2023. She then went on to perform in three other main season shows, two plays in Cornish Tales. She played Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Miss Prism in The Importance of Being Earnest, working under four different directors Andy Blake, Colin Leggo, Ellen Moule and Shazz Andrew. She was also involved in the Hope for Cornwall audio project which CYTC was part of creating in 2024.

Good luck with your course and the future Emily. We'll miss you and we're so excited to see what you do with all your talent and skills.

So this year we're saying goodbye to some of our long standing members, which is always sad. The first we'd like to mention who's leaving the company this season is Leven, who's been with us for a remarkable six seasons, since before Covid.

Leven joined CYTC in 2018 when we were still run by Founder Artistic Director Dave Hunter and Designer Jackie Moule and has worked with five different directors since joining the company: Andy Blake, Colin Leggo, Shazz Andrew, Ellen Moule and Allan Neve. Leven’s been in six main season tours (7 plays) and was involved in the Hope for Cornwall audio commission in Autumn 2024 and The Grand Old Oak festival show in Summer 2025 which went to Tropical Pressure Festival.

Because of his long standing membership we decided we wanted to resurrect the Richard Thomas Long Membership Award for him this year. Richard Thomas was our first member to stay with for 6 seasons from 2003 to 2009, and so we started an award in his name for people who stay with the company for many seasons of work.

We're going to miss you Leven. Come back and see us anytime.
