I have just finished yet another fab project with Equal Arts at Harton Grange Care Home in South Shields

We explored different printmaking techniques and also worked on recycling tiles for the garden.

The residents named the Harton Hinnies (they have hens at their home to look after) were amazing fun and enjoyed being creative over the six weeks. Dot, Mary, Faith, Nancy and Marjorie were the main participants they were honestly brilliant.

I love the hens I got to have a cuddle!

Thanks so much GemArts for another brilliant Holi Festival this year in March. I was invited to work with 2 women’s groups The Millin Centre and The Feel Good Ladies Group both based in Gateshead.

They both created amazing art work exploring the themes connected to Holi; hope, positivity, the coming of spring and nature. The women made structures from withies and paper, printed with silk screens and worked with fabric appliqué to make banners for the exhibition at the Baltic

The Festival was so vibrant and bursting with positive vibes.

Another lovely project with Equal Arts at Boulmer Court Chester Le Street.

The residents created their own recipes books based
On the previous history archive heritage project in Durham. The residents discovered the the letters between 2 sisters one living in Chester le Street the other in Vancouver around 1903. The letters shared recipes. Lemon curd the most memorable to the group and it also initiated memories about their own M**s recipes. Especially one resident, Elsie had a recipe book her Mam had created it also had the lemon curd recipe in there!

The group painted with watercolours, used collage and transfer paper to create their own books.
