I'm a mum of two young children and a primary school teacher, based in South Wales. I've been interested in art for as long as I can remember and always loved painting and drawing. After studying art at both GCSE and at A Level I specialised in learning how to teach art to young children during my teacher training. I have recently found time to refocus on my art, recognising the importance of doin

g what I love for my emotional well being. I draw my inspiration from animals, birds and the natural world, as well as my role as a mother and motherhood. I especially enjoy creating and experimenting with drawing and painting, particularly with watercolours.

Top tip: want to paint something but don't know where to start? Paint a bookmark! 📚📖🖌️🎨
Blank page anxiety is real, so if you're left stumped and overthinking when presented with a blank page, and whilst wanting to paint you're not sure where to begin, just take the pressure off and warm up your creative flow by painting a bookmark instead! Once presented with this smaller surface area, if the big empty page was making you put pressure on yourself to create a masterpiece, you'll find yourself feel instantly more relaxed. Your playful side -which you need to experiment and push boundaries in your art- will emerge and you'll find you enjoy your painting session so much more! And having fun with it is what it's all about after all!
We often paint bookmarks in my watercolour workshops as a way to warm up, loosen up and get into a relaxed, creative mindset, as well as a way to practise new techniques and subjects.

August...in my art classes 🖌️🎨

This month has involved painting a locally inspired riverscape at a Paint and Cake class at Cakey's Creations in Glynneath, an acrylic painting workshop at The Swansea Centre For Deaf People painting 'The Dance of the Dragonflies' and a fabulous evening at Altitude28 painting 'A Sicilian Summer'.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for fun, relaxation and creativity, here are just a few photos of the wonderful art and artists from these events.
