A familiar language, visualised differently in my 50x8cm format.

These three new Dualities paintings continue my exploration of connection, tension and human interaction through overlapping circles, layered marks and monochrome tones.
Even though these tall, narrow pieces occupy very little wall space, they do seem to have a habit of finding exactly the spot they were meant for.

51 × 9 cm framed.

It’s always a thrill when someone falls for something you’ve put many hours of love and attention into, but it’s all the more meaningful when you’re there with them as they make that connection and commitment to your art.
Thank you so much to my wonderful fellow artist for seeing something special in my Vessels, and choosing one of them to take away as a gift for a much loved friend. It means so much.

Many thanks also to the amazing •nook• gallery for hosting their Flora exhibition to celebrate their 2nd Birthday 🥳🥳 - it’s a fantastic show of art, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, print, photography, and sculpture.
Please check them out via the link 😊

Vessels I & III (Vessel II is on the way)

I’ve been keeping my latest loves under wraps.
Still paintings, but on a very different surface.
Both have collaged printed leaves from my garden - cleavers, ferns, bluebells, dandelions, raspberry - inspired by the flourishing of Spring.

Formed from paper clay, collaged with hand printed leaves and patterns, painted & dripped with acrylics and sealed with cold wax. These two vessels sit alongside my current b&w series of paintings.

Vessel I:
H: 28cm
W top: 15cm
W base: 10.5cm
£55

Vessel III:
H: 13cm
W top: 10.5cm
W base: 13.5cm
£35

After much procrastination & exasperation, I did it - I pulled the plug on my miscreant, dysfunctional website! Phew!
But that means I need a new one, so I’m chipping away at building a shiny new portal into the world of my Art.
It’ll be sleeker - and you’ll be able to but my work through it - HOORAH! 🤩
I’m a way off having it done, so please bear with me - who knew I could agonise over font choices for so many days! Erm, I did - some things don’t change 😁
As soon as it’s ready to go LIVE I’ll let you know. Of course the plan was to kill one/birth one at the same time, but life doesn’t always go that smoothly 🤷‍♂️

To all you lovely folks on my mailing list, don’t worry, I’m transferring you all over to the new site.

See you soon… 😊

Hermetic Principle series (2023)
Everything Vibrates; All is Mind; As Above, So Below

The first time I created a series in black and white was three years ago - my Hermetic Principles series. I thought it was a glitch in the matrix - I thought I was a colour painter. It took me by surprise, but it was what the idea needed - to be stripped right back to its essence & message.

Now I’m creating a new black and white series, and I know this is a cycle - there’s something about painting in monochrome that resets me - a recalibration of my creative energy and habits. It makes me think and see differently.

Three years apart this time. I wonder how long it’ll be til my next black & white series…

Wise words, and a timely reminder, from Artists & Illustrators magazine -

‘Making art is a constant process of learning & unlearning - no matter how good you are, it really is important to break things up a little and experiment.
One way to do this is by abandoning colour - this can lead to improvement in your practice, as well as take your art in a whole new direction.’
It can also be very liberating!
