The North Pennines is a vast and diverse landscape, miles of nothingness and little pockets of woodlands scattered around.
From certain areas the views are amazing this is just one of those spots.

After lots of rain in Scotland the mountain slopes turned into pathways for all the water. Around every turn you saw gallons upon gallons of water rushing down the sides in to rivers and across roads. This shot close to rest and be thankful was a snippet of what I saw, the power of nature had already caused havoc along this road earlier in the year with a landslide that blocked the passage of any vehicle.

Just before the sun got to its full strength.
Me and waited patiently for the light to catch the low cloud cover but unfortunately it didn’t quite reach us.
We made do with the beautiful orange glow that washed over the foreground.

A great chilly -3 degrees early morning outing with at sycamore gap. It had all the ingredients for a beautiful sunrise but it turned out that we were shooting in the wrong direction.
Although the sunrise didn’t light up the clouds behind the tree as we wanted, the foreground light was still beautiful.

This Friday I decided to take a trip to the Lake District and ascend Haystacks. The main objective was photography of course but my god! what a spectacular place, the views are amazing and even though it’s tough at times it is a very rewarding climb.
I came away with some nice shots that I will post up shortly but most importantly, I came away with an experience I will never forget.
Here is a slide I put together from my visit.

I’m thinking about doing a small series of the decay and mayhem within our woodlands. I think it’s about time I put some thought into doing a little project.
The last image I posted was a wide shot of this smaller scene but I think they both work well with each other.

New growth forests are a weakness of mine. I struggle like crazy and get frustrated trying to find compositions. Every once in a while though a scene like this presents itself and the frustration disappears.

Tried my hand at some mushroom lighting. Walking through the woodland searching for the right shroom to Photograph was pretty tricky, however, I was surprised just how many I came across. Not all had the correct ingredients but this one did.

Not a portfolio image by any means and a very tricky tree to compose.
The branches of this old oak splay out in every direction, it’s mental!
Sitting it’s stump in a small river this tree is filled with character and interesting shapes yet it’s a very tough tree to Photograph, me and struggled to shoot this tree and this was my best attempt.

As autumn begins to encroach upon the landscape, along with it comes the fog and mist. Wet humid mornings with a splash of colour, combine to give us scenes like these. A lonely hut and jetty sit peacefully along the banks of this small lake, protected by a single tree that is now showing some of autumns beautiful colours.
A fisherman’s retreat I have named this image.

Tried my hand at a bit of ICM last weekend, not too sure if I did it right. I suppose shaking a camera isn’t too hard, seems wrong in many ways but here is the outcome anyway.

Being out on the road all week working takes me to some lovely locations, it may mean that I can’t always get out and do my photography but sometimes things just have a way of presenting themselves. In this case, this beautiful creature emerged from the long grass and I quickly grabbed the camera.
