As part of a Time & Tide Bell and National Lottery Heritage Fund project, local people shared their memories, stories and reflections about life on the Morecambe coast—past and present. From childhood adventures and family traditions to memories of work, weather and changing landscapes, these voices help tell the story of our coastline.

Artist Anthony Padgett is inviting residents to enter an Eric Morecambe Look-a-like Remix Art competition.

We have a new exhibition opening tomorrow, Wednesday 27th May at 11am. This is a great opportunity to see the work of this unique and self taught artist. Living with a diagnosed mental illness, Thom uses his art to express aspects of his lived experience: making visual that which can't be seen from the outside.

Some of the artists Thom admires and inspire him are: Francis Bacon, Edvard Munch, Maria Lassnig, Frida Kahlo, Henri Mattisse, Pablo Piccaso, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Tracey Emin, and Vincent Van Gough. Many whose art has been used to explore psychological relationships with existence, between the physical touchable world and the internality of lived existence.

Come along and see this powerful body of work that offers insights into how art can be used to express and communicate complex and challenging ideas. The process of making is vital for Thom he says: “When I worked on pieces that were difficult for me, it opened discussions, conversations that I couldn’t have had before. This has helped me to open-up and move forward with my therapy.”
