It's our penultimate Meet the Team post - and today we're taking you backstage to introduce you to the man and the legend that is Tom Clutterbuck! π¨βπ€

π Tell us about your role within the show...β
I'm the Technical Touring Stage Manager on the show. Or something like that. I just like putting the word "technical" at the front, so it accurately represents my nerdy passion for pressing buttons and fiddling with cables. Basically, I set up and operate all the lighting and sound for the show. Oh, and I drive the tour car, so I guess we could fit "chauffeur" in there somewhere?
π How does it feel to join the Bobby & Amy team?
It's really great. There's so much talent in this team, not just on stage (although the actors are exceptional), but also behind the scenes in the writing, directing and design etc. Although I'm new the project for this run, I feel like I've seen the show a lot of times now, but it's so dense there's always something new to discover. It's also nice to be back on the road generally. I've toured shows to a bunch of these venues before, so it's really good to see how everyone's bounced back after the pandemic.
π Bobby & Amy takes us back twenty years to 2001. What does that time period mean to you? Any nostalgic memories?
Well, 2001 was the year I started university, where I studied drama and theatre arts, so it's really when I started making work outside of am dram and school. As such it's a pretty formative period for me. I was also lucky enough to meet my best friend Molly Naylor there, and we're still going strong and even making work together. I recently directed her new show "Stop Trying To Be Fantastic", which will be going out on tour next year. I'm allowed to plug other work here, right? [editor's note: right.]
