GALSOV Iris CAT v0.5.1 is now live
We’ve released a small refresh patch for the current GALSOV Iris Closed Alpha Test build.
This update is mainly focused on early tester feedback, especially improving the selected-system map so it is easier to read, easier to navigate, and less awkward to manage during normal play. It also includes recent improvements around selected-object inspection, right-click order flow, colony/outpost order clarity, and general tester usability.
Thank you again to everyone who has already tested and sent feedback. It has genuinely helped shape the build.
We are now moving into a more focused stress-testing phase for the current build. In particular, we’re asking testers to try different galaxy sizes — starting around 500 systems and working upward through 750, 1,000, 1,500, and 2,000 — so we can better understand performance across different PCs and begin working toward realistic minimum/recommended specs.
At this stage, unless anything game-breaking appears, most remaining non-critical bugs, polish items, and feature requests will be carried forward into the next major development phase: GALSOV v0.6.x — Endeavour.
Endeavour is planned as a major feature-building release. The aim is to deepen the single-player sandbox before NPC empires, diplomacy, war, and opponent behaviour are introduced.
Current proposed v0.6.x Endeavour scope includes:
- more meaningful ships and fleets
- better fleet management and inspection
- clearer player-facing movement systems
- supply and logistics as real gameplay pressure
- a first-pass sensors and stealth layer
- Captains and Admirals joining Governors as character roles
- improved character levelling and gameplay impact
- deeper planetary functionality, including development, defences, anti-space defences, bunkers, stockpiles, population handling, and reporting screens
- an empire-wide build screen for managing available construction more easily
- improved ship images and presentation
- a much wider implementation of the research system, including broader effects, buffs, and third-tier research
- continued focus on reporting, save/load, deterministic proof, and testability
What Endeavour is not currently planned to include is just as important.
NPC empires, diplomacy, space combat as a full loop, observable opponent behaviour, the war loop, and ground warfare are not currently planned for v0.6.x. The player-side sandbox needs to become stronger and clearer first.
GALSOV is still early, still rough, and still very much in active development — but each CAT pass is helping turn it from a prototype into something more coherent, testable, and playable.
Thanks again to everyone helping test, break, question, and shape it.
