Getting in a little early for International Dog Day tomorrow 🐾❤️

Dogs have a way of becoming so much more than pets. They’re our companions, our shadows, our comfort on difficult days and part of so many of our happiest memories.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of painting so many much-loved dogs, each with their own personality and story. Some are still very much by their family’s side, while others were painted to remember a special friend who is deeply missed.

So tomorrow I’ll be thinking especially of everyone who has had to say goodbye to a four-legged best friend. They may leave a huge hole in our lives, but what they give us while they’re here stays with us forever. ❤️🐾

When you can’t rush the process… 🎨

For me, the time spent layering, building and refining a painting is part of what gives it meaning.

The longer I spend with a piece, the more I see it, feel it and connect with it. I’m not simply painting what’s in front of me, I’m becoming emotionally invested in the story I want it to tell.

That connection is such an important part of how I create art with purpose. ❤️

And this one still has a very important arrival to come… 🐻‍❄️
I can’t wait to add the polar bear.

‘On Thin Ice’ is the first painting in my new conservation series ‘The Last Showdown’. Painted from an amazing reference image by Joe Cornish, this will be one of many collaborative pieces for my exhibition next year. More details will follow in due course.

Belated Happy World Lion Day!

This is ‘Together’, one of my favourite lion paintings, a quiet moment of closeness, trust and connection between two of Africa’s most iconic animals.

Lions may symbolise strength and courage, but I think there’s something equally powerful in this gentler side of them. Sometimes strength is simply knowing you don’t have to face everything alone.

And really… lions deserve more than just one day. 🦁

🥵 A hot one in the studio today!

Definitely a day for the doors wide open while I make more progress on this one… which feels slightly ironic given the subject! 🐻‍❄️🧊

I’ve also decided on a name change. What Remains has become On Borrowed Ice, I think it fits the story behind the painting so much better.

I’m working from one of Joe Cornish’s wonderful photographs for this piece, as part of our collaboration for my new wildlife and conservation collection. Slowly building up the broken ice and Arctic water before the polar bear takes his place.

🦄 £1,850 raised for the RDA Unicorn Centre! 💜

Lovely to see the story of Unbridled Hope featured in the Darlington & Stockton Times, celebrating the fantastic £1,850 raised from the auction of my original painting.

It was a very special moment to return to the Unicorn Centre and hand over the cheque, knowing that every penny raised from the original artwork is going directly towards supporting the Centre and the invaluable work they do.

A huge thank you once again to everyone who followed, shared and supported the auction, and of course to the incredibly generous winning bidder. I’m so proud that a piece of my art has been able to make a real difference. 💜

And the story doesn’t end here… prints of Unbridled Hope are still available, with 25% from every print sold donated to the RDA Unicorn Centre, so the painting can continue raising funds long after the auction.

Thank you to the D&S Times for helping share this very special story. 🦄💜

My studio might be a bit of a mess, but that usually means something good is happening! 🎨

A really productive day working on ‘What Remains’ today, and I’m loving being back at the easel with a big canvas and watching this one gradually come to life.

Painted in acrylic from a fantastic reference photograph by Joe Cornish, this piece is part of my new wildlife and conservation project. The solitary polar bear and the vast, fragile landscape around him tell a story that feels increasingly important — what remains when the ice disappears?

Still plenty to do, but I’m really enjoying the journey with this one. 🐻‍❄️❄️

I’m delighted to share that my artwork, Black Stallion, has been selected for this year’s prestigious Society of Equestrian Artists exhibition, The Horse in Art, at the Museum of the Horse at the Sally Mitchell Gallery in Tuxford.

It’s always an honour to have your work chosen, and I’m really looking forward to seeing Black Stallion exhibited alongside so many talented artists.

On a personal note, Tuxford is just down the road from where I spent my university days in Nottinghamshire, so this feels like a lovely full-circle moment. It gives me the perfect excuse to turn the trip into a little mini break, revisit some old haunts, and discover a few new ones along the way.

If you’re in the area between 14–26 September, I’d love it if you popped in to see the exhibition.
