🎶 Let’s make some music!

We’re inviting children aged 7–10 to join us for a free, creative music workshop where they can experiment, play, listen and explore their own ideas through music. 🎵

No previous musical experience is needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to have fun!

The session will help us explore children’s ideas and interests as we begin shaping a future music project around identity, local history and life in Salford.

Printmaking Workshop | 31 October 🎭

Join us for a creative printmaking workshop with Kate Bufton (Kate Bufton) inspired by Kimmy Cantrell’s bold masks and abstract facial styles.

You’ll design a face by drawing, then transfer your design onto a polystyrene printing plate to create your own prints. 🖼️✨

Meet Catherine Mukuka, our long-term volunteer who has now joined the team as a Trainee Community Coordinator. 

Catherine, originally from Zambia and based in Leigh, has been volunteering for a number of local charities, churches and colleges. She helps with coffee mornings, sewing, supporting English classes and new students, cleaning, and organising sports classes.

“My passion is to help others and to make sure they are okay. In Zambia, I worked as a sports teacher, training girls aged 7–14 in netball. I also organised games for the community at a local level, worked with orphans, underprivileged children and elderly people."

In this new role, Catherine will work alongside the team to support our Wigan & Leigh Outreach Programme, where we connect through art with migrants and local communities. She hopes to gain experience with wellbeing workshops, IT, admin and community engagement.

The heart of Sheba Festival 2026. ❤️‍🔥

The Still We Rise exhibition brought together commissioned, local, community and youth artists to explore and showcase themes of migration, identity, resilience and belonging.

Across painting, textiles and mixed media, the exhibition shared powerful stories of displacement, heritage, mental health and community — alongside artwork created through over 40 community workshops in Wigan and Leigh since 2024.

We were proud to showcase the work of Haleema Aziz, Smriti Rai, Blessing Wheto Ogunjimi, Andrew Kuwornu, Nadia Sultana, Melika Rafat, Lizzie Hobbs, Hana and Dorsa, alongside the wider Sheba Arts community.

Over seven days, around 300 people visited the exhibition, creating space for reflection, dialogue and cultural exchange.

Thank you to every artist, participant and visitor who helped make Still We Rise what it was. ✨
