ARTIST SPOTLIGHT - WILL TANG CLAN 🐝 Will Tang (harmonica, guitar and vocals) is joined by Luke Flowers (drums), Tom Chapman (bass) and Matt Wilmot (keys), with special guest Canadian guitarist Gary Cain joining the band exclusively for the festival. Expect a fusion of styles, heavy on improvisation, yet with one foot firmly rooted in the blues 🎶 Will and his Clan have been praised for pushing the spirit of the blues into new territory. Blues Matters described them as “a blues culture shock, and a definite asset to the future of blues.” Will has also founded several initiatives supporting the blues and beyond in Manchester, including the monthly Carlton Blues Club, Manchester Improvisation Festival and Manchester Blues Festival, now entering its third year. Not to be missed — and musicians are invited to join the band for an all-star jam finale! 🎸

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT – GARY CAIN 🎸🇨🇦 Canadian-born guitarist, singer and songwriter Gary Cain brings a virtuosic, genre-blurring approach to the blues, drawing on influences from Albert King to AC/DC. A main-stage festival performer across North America, Europe and the UK, Cain was a semi-finalist at the International Blues Challenge and ranked #4 in the world in the blues category of Lee Ritenour’s prestigious Six String Theory guitar competition.
His acclaimed albums Next Stop (2022) and Outside The Lines (2024) showcase his distinctive blend of blues, rock, funk and beyond, with the latter reaching the UK Independent Blues Broadcasters’ Top 40.
As Rock and Blues Muse put it: “a fearless lyricist, a ripping guitarist, and a creator with his own ideas.”

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT - FRANNY EUBANK 🐝 Manchester’s very own Blues legend, Franny Eubank has hosted the legendary Blues Jam at Matt & Phred’s for many years, becoming a much-loved figure in the city’s Blues scene. A hugely talented harmonica player and vocalist, Franny brings infectious energy and authenticity to every performance. Fuelled by the Blues of Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson, his fiery harmonica and deep, soulful vocals have set rooms alight night after night. ARTIST SPOTLIGHT — SOUTHPAW SLIM 🐝 Manchester-based Southpaw Slim (Lee Parry) has spent over 15 years bringing his own take on classic rhythm & blues to stages across the UK. Drawing inspiration from Leadbelly, Elmore James and Muddy Waters, Lee combines gritty, emotive vocals with his distinctive left-handed, upside-down guitar style, delivering everything from Chicago shuffles and West Coast swing to slow-burning blues ballads.
With a deep feel for the groove and a powerful, stripped-back approach, Southpaw Slim has also become something of a hit with the UK’s bubbling blues dance scene — music made to move to as much as listen to.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT - PAUL FARR BLUES PROJECT 🎸 “An instrumental powerhouse.” — Blues Matters. Manchester guitarist and composer Paul Farr brings his own blues project to Manchester Blues Festival, blending deep blues roots with jazz, funk and an improvisational edge.
A longtime guitarist for Kyla Brox and sought-after session player who has worked with Tom Jones, Lily Allen and Joss Stone, Paul brings a wealth of experience and a deep love of the blues to this project.
Featuring some of Manchester’s finest musicians, including Clive Mellor (harmonica), Justin Shearn (keys), Huw Jacob (bass) and Luke Flowers (drums), expect thrilling grooves, jazz-infused textures and funky rhythms.
