Recently I have connected to a brilliant charity called the . Next week they present Welcome To Gaza on 19 Aug 2025, 19:00 – 23:00 at the Social Refuge, 27 Great Ancoats St, Ancoats, Manchester M4 5AJ!

Welcome To Gaza ~ Expect dancing, genies, animals, mother-in-laws and ghosts. Messages – phone calls, Zoom calls, voice notes – reporting a nightmare: bombed hospitals and schools, children lying like rubble in collapsing streets. Welcome to Gaza is a 90-minute theatrical experience weaving together 19 plays written by children from Gaza and the West Bank before October 7th, 2023. Whimsical, imaginative, and vibrant, their stories are continually interrupted by real messages from genocide — audio, video, and written testimony portraying the shift in everyday life in Gaza before and after October 7th.

This is not just theatre — it’s testimony. It’s celebration and confrontation. It’s memory and interruption. Presented in solidarity. Held in community.

will be joining with a book stall selling some of the diaries they have published by Gazans (with all proceeds to the Gazan writers and to Palestinian charities) and some fiction by Palestinian writers also. Alongside all that amazingness Hands Up Project will be selling the published playtext of WTG and other poem collections by Palestinian children. Tickets via link in bio! 💫

I’m really pleased to be starting the research for my performance piece commissioned by .

A long time in the making, it’s one of 12 projects out of 184 applications that’s been awarded the support to create a new piece of work.

This is an idea I’ve carried beneath my chest bone & deep in my mind for the last 7 years way before the pandemic. If you know me, you’ll know why it’s important to me.

Everything has its due course and I’m just buzzing that I’m in great company with some exciting fellow artists.

Over the next few months I’ll be gathering stories from south Asian women of all ages and would love to hear yours.

Through a series of sharing circles, I’ll be exploring themes around marriage rituals, dolki songs, mental health & the stigma of divorce in our communities - join me for a safe space to have meaningful conversations, and build knowledge through our shared experiences.

If you’d like to share your story with me or are part of a south asian women’s group who might be interested, please get in touch with me at [email protected]!

💫🇵🇸Palestinian Women’s Voices Tour

Wednesday 15 March 2023, 2-3.30PM
Performance Space, Manchester Central Library

The Ahmed Iqbal Ullah RACE Centre and Education Trust is pleased to invite you to a special event to hear about the experiences of three of the Palestinian women visiting the UK with CADFA ( Camden Abu Dis Friendship Association*) for their Palestinian Women's Voices Tour.

Twelve women have travelled here to talk about their lives as part of International Women's Day celebrations across England and Wales. The three women coming exclusively to Manchester are:

Amneh from Jenin – A retired teacher and writer for children.

Suhair from Beit Leed village near Tulkarem – A youth worker and staff member of the rehabilitation unit in Nablus hospital.

Shereen from Nazareth – A medical student studying in Abu Dis who grew up in Nazareth.

The women will be sharing their own stories, talking about life for women living in different parts of Palestine followed by a Q&A and chance for discussion.

* This visit is part of CADFA's Building Hope project which seeks to bring Palestinian voices to a wider audience across Britain and has been organised in partnership with the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Education Trust.

The event is free but book via Eventbrite using the link below.
