Take a moment to read this powerful poem.

Then read it backwards.

A perfect reminder that the world can always be looked at another way and that we should always support and welcome those who, through no fault of their own, have been forced to leave their homes, lives and memories behind.

We stand in solidarity with the people of #Ukraine 🇺🇦

Music Action International is deeply concerned about the impact of the new war in Ukraine.

We stand in solidarity with the victims of wars and conflict. We call the aggressor to abide by Geneva conventions, and and the International Humanitarian Laws that guarantee protection of civilians.

The energy is the room, and group support is everything! Everyday People have created an extraordinary record with uplifting tunes in-debted to modern dancehall RnB styles, tough percussive dance tunes, mournful yet hopeful love songs about home, about conquering demons and overcoming any challenge.

SIERRA LEONE WITH WAYout (Worldwide Arts For Youth)

In partnership we have been running sessions in the Kissi Psychiatric Hospital for one year and
the male and female prisons for three years. Every week we run sessions of music, body percussion and singing with over 40 patients and 200 inmates!

Participants have been showing a great willingness to be sociable, as they improve their communication and an ability to let go and enjoy themselves! One doctor reported “patients are getting more sleep as it relieves stress. There has even been an increase in releasing patients”. Whilst people who previously did not come out of their cells now do so when they hear the music.

The beauty of partnering with WAYout is that they’re open to participants to even after they’re released and able to continue on the programmes! Teamwork, collaboration and partnerships are vital to the success of our work. With your support we can continue to support amazing projects like this one.

“I was always stressed but the sessions help me make fun with others and have hope.” Zainab, Sierre Leone Facilitator

On Human Rights Day we bring to you EVERYDAY PEOPLE EP

Teenage refugees often arrive in the UK without family or friends, having survived armed conflict and endured a horrific and dangerous journey to get here. Everyday People has provided a vital outlet for young people to come together for therapeutic, creative music sessions, providing relief from daily stresses caused by their often traumatic experiences, and encouraging friendships with other young people.

Human Rights Day — the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted in 1948, that proclaims the inalienable rights which everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
