Hi Noel, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for Saturday. You were fantastic & we had so many comments from guests about how great you guys were. Thanks also for indulging Nathan and letting him have a turn on the mic! If you need any reviews or anything from us please let me know. We’re off on honeymoon now. But very happy to send something across when we’re back! Thanks again, Linden

We're playing the Half Moon in Tyldesley on Sunday at 7:30 with the very sexy Thom from the Lottery Winners standing in on bass.

Hello - I'm Andy and I'd like to help teach you or your child to play the drums or improve existing drumming skills. I teach to all levels from ages 8 to 80+.

With over 40 years of drumming experience both live and in recording studios, I can help you master the basics and then progress to intermediate and advanced levels if you wish.

If you've always wanted to learn to play I'll get you up and running quickly. You'll soon master simple beats and learn the fundamentals of sight reading.

If you are already playing but want to improve, I can help with technique, playing with a click and more advanced patterns and sight reading.

Lessons are normally 30 minutes but some students prefer an hour's lesson. Generally I split the time between playing on the drum kit and focusing on rudiments and skill on a practice pad.

I don't normally recommend hour lessons for anyone under 11 as younger drummers don't normally have the concentration skills required for a full hour of teaching.

I require 48 hours notice if you need to change or cancel a lesson time - though of course I recognise that sometimes things happen that you can't control.

Lessons can be weekly or every other week - it really depends on how much practice the student is able to put in between lessons.

I can take you through the various drum grades if you wish but I find that most people just want to be able to learn to play along to favourite songs and express themselves musically.

If you or your child are new to drumming, you don't need to bring anything to the first lesson other than a positive attitude and the desire to have some fun - I'll lend you a pair of sticks!

I'm fully CRB checked too.

I teach from The Drum Shack - a custom built studio with lots of space and great Drum Kits to learn on.

Oh and The Strawbury Duck is just 150 metres away so if you fancy a drink or a bite to eat you've not far to walk.

We can’t believe that our Busk Stop Sessions have already been going for a month! In that time, that’s 23 musicians we’ve been able to support in extremely challenging circumstances for them. The official Eat Out To Help Out campaign may be ending on Monday, but ourselves and our neighbours at Empire Rochdale are dedicated to helping out our artists, meaning that The Busk Stop Sessions are carrying on for the foreseeable. Even better, with it being bank holiday, we’ve got even more top class entertainment lined up over the next 4 days! So without further ado... This evening we’re kicking off with another newcomer. Join us from 6pm for nearly an hour of acoustic classic crowd pleasers from the incredibly talented, and highly recommended Jake Dixon. Following on from Jake, we’ve had The Late Show in the Flyer a few times, and LJ even did an absolutely fantastic livestream for us a few months ago. We’re meeting in the middle and at 9:30pm, we’ve got the LJ duo, featuring LJ herself and Iain from The Late Show. On Saturday, come and join us for a pub lunch, and then at 3pm, join the Pub Lunch duo for an afternoon of feel good tunes from party classics to Indy anthems. They were one of the first duos we’ve had in The Flyer, and they packed the energy of a full band and went down an absolute storm! Definitely not to be missed. If you’ve been in The Flyer on a Friday / Saturday night, there’s a higher than average chance you’ll have seen The Noel Fraser Band. Noel’s probably been gigging here and “changing” the lyrics since before the building was built! Either way, if you haven’t, your chance to see him has finally arrived! Join us for a solo set at 6pm featuring acoustic covers of all your favourites! To wrap Saturday up, we’ve got another Flyer regular lined up for you. At 9:30pm we’re welcoming the return of Funktion & Co, in their duo format. We’ve seen them as a 3 and 4 piece, and got a great show in both lineups, so we’ve high hopes for the duo. Join Rick and Tasha for a night of bangers to get you moving (in your seats of course). On Sunday we’re running entertainment a little bit later. At 5pm, we kick off with another new act to us, and would like to extend a very warm welcome to the absolutely incredible Benjamin Lee Smith. He’s one of the finest musicians from Manchester and in high demand, and he even plays keys with The Human League, and for Grammy nominated Yola. He’ll be performing his own amazing versions of chilled out classics. He is absolutely one that you don’t want to miss! Following Benjamin, at 8pm we’re thrilled to be welcoming David Luke back to the Busk Stop. David has performed in The Flyer with his band The Undecided numerous times, and with his duo once in the pub. On top of this he’s done a few live-streams for us, and played one of the very first Busk Stop sessions with The Undecided Duo. This time we’ve got his very well refined solo show lined up for you and it’s an absolute treat. To bring Sunday to a close, Smudge will be making a return! We had them on just after Christmas and this duo really knew how to please a crowd. Join us at 10:30pm for a night of absolute classics ranging from The Police to Hendrix and everything in between. And last but not least, on Monday at 3pm, we’ll be joined by the incredible Manchester singer/songwriter LYZA for an hour of chilled covers and originals with a blend of folk and pop vibes. Keeping with the busking theme, musicians around the country have all felt the pinch with Covid as their gig calendars have been completely depleted! Our artists would be be incredibly grateful for you to show your appreciation, and any tips will be graciously received. They may even play a request! All rules are being adhered too and your safety is important to both us and The Empire Street Food Menu served till 9pm. Please note, you must remain seated at all times with your family//bubbles and once all the tables are full we wont allow any more entry. Stay Safe But Still Live!
