Hello - I'm Andy and I'd like to help teach you or your child to play the drums or improve existing drumming skills. I teach to all levels from ages 8 to 80+.

With over 40 years of drumming experience both live and in recording studios, I can help you master the basics and then progress to intermediate and advanced levels if you wish.

If you've always wanted to learn to play I'll get you up and running quickly. You'll soon master simple beats and learn the fundamentals of sight reading.

If you are already playing but want to improve, I can help with technique, playing with a click and more advanced patterns and sight reading.

Lessons are normally 30 minutes but some students prefer an hour's lesson. Generally I split the time between playing on the drum kit and focusing on rudiments and skill on a practice pad.

I don't normally recommend hour lessons for anyone under 11 as younger drummers don't normally have the concentration skills required for a full hour of teaching.

I require 48 hours notice if you need to change or cancel a lesson time - though of course I recognise that sometimes things happen that you can't control.

Lessons can be weekly or every other week - it really depends on how much practice the student is able to put in between lessons.

I can take you through the various drum grades if you wish but I find that most people just want to be able to learn to play along to favourite songs and express themselves musically.

If you or your child are new to drumming, you don't need to bring anything to the first lesson other than a positive attitude and the desire to have some fun - I'll lend you a pair of sticks!

I'm fully CRB checked too.

I teach from The Drum Shack - a custom built studio with lots of space and great Drum Kits to learn on.

Oh and The Strawbury Duck is just 150 metres away so if you fancy a drink or a bite to eat you've not far to walk.
