Back from a little foray into the Manchester arts scene....

No way can I do all these amazing places justice in just one post but here's just a quick glance at a few favourites.

From the beautiful installation from Adeela Suleman at to the fantastic Dürer exhibition at , some highly unusual architecture of to a great case study of adaptive re-use and even the Biggie Smalls themed wallpaper of the toilets, what a city!

See you again soon Manchester!

2 layers in, 2 to go on the Bangkok Skytrain series. This one is starting to feel a little like some sort of megalithic concrete tree in my mind so would be interested to know what everyone else thinks?

Printmaking in progress for the Bangkok Skytrain series.....

I still use a very traditional method of creating images based on a hand drawing. I like to start by using a fine liner pen on tracing paper to create a master image, which is then traced onto the lino block using carbon paper (the Japanese blue type you can see in the photo).

This image is then carved out with my trusty pfeil chisels to create the printing block. Once printed, the whole process is repeated again and again on the same piece of lino, taking away a little bit more each time to build up a layered image in a technique is also know as reduction printmaking.

Inspiration behind the latest print series, the Bangkok Sky Train. Now this one caught me by surprise as I wandered out from Pratunam market to find this behemoth of concrete looming above the city.

Even more surprising is that it only opened in 1999 despite resembling the level of high brutalism typically seen in the mid 20th Century.

Seeing the contrast between this unapologetic concrete giant and the surrounding neon lights and plate glass of shopping malls made it look even more like a dislocated kaiju skeleton had fallen from the sky.

So whilst I typically focus on mid century and brutalist in my work, this Thai wonder makes a fascinating subject to explore. 3 new prints on the way!
