Here it is!! I’m so so proud of this new look for Clay & Coats. With a colour scheme inspired by the classic red brick of Ancoats, I think this definitely reflects my current style. Let me know what you think!
Lets talk waste.
Let’s talk waste. As you may or may not know, polymer clay is made mainly of plastic (polyvinyl chloride to be precise). Because of this, I try to be as sustainable as possible in my process. In a world that is so saturated with fast fashion, I want to make sure that I’m not adding to the overly mass produced jewellery industry. Since I began making earrings, I’ve been collecting the scraps from drilling and sanding with the aim of reusing them in the creative process.

SANDING
Before I got this nifty little gadget (thanks mum!), it used to take me about 2-3 minutes to sand each component. Now I can fit it into a 30 second video, making it a way less time consuming process. Smooth edges all round!

I love her Aphrodite range- the earrings are elegant and sleek whilst still making a statement, but I also love both the idea and aesthetic of her zero waste earrings. Polymer clay is primarily a plastic and so she uses her off-cuts to create stunning designs and keep her business sustainable, minimising harm to the planet. I also love her packaging. It’s thoughtful, pretty and makes it feel like a present!
