Statement: Darren Nailer (Something Different Events Ltd)
Introduction
"Thank you, Chair, and members of the Committee. My name is Darren Nailer. I am a local business owner and the Director of Something Different Events. I have operated at this site for over 12 years."
The Human Impact
"This site is more than a venue; it is a vital incubator for Herefordshire’s creative and neurodiverse community. As someone with ADHD who once struggled with depression, I found my voice here. I’ve turned that passion into businesses that now supports hundreds of musicians, crafts people, artists and countless local suppliers. We are in the business of making people smile and providing a safe, inclusive space for those who often feel they don’t 'fit in' elsewhere."
The Professional Reality
"We are deeply committed to being good neighbours. We don't just 'hope' we are quiet; we prove it. For the event in question, we sought guidance from the Council which unfortunately went unreturned. In response, we took the proactive, professional step of hiring an independent acoustic specialist.
The Evidence
We can provide reports that contains L90 baseline data and Octave band analysis. This objective, scientific data proves that even at our peak, we operated at the lowest possible industry limits. On the other date cited in these complaints, no event was even taking place on-site. We are being judged on subjective feelings, but we are presenting you with hard facts."

The Path Forward
"We aren't here to argue; we are here to offer solutions. We propose a professional ‘Communication Pathway,’ including a direct resident hotline, to ensure this special community can coexist in harmony with our neighbours. We ask you to support the site's licence so we can continue to support our community and business’s linked to the community.
