Update
An electricity cable came down yesterday and inconveniently set fire to the bracken on the hillside behind the house. Luckily, someone spotted the smoke and called the fire brigade, who managed to stop the fire about ten yards away from the house. We were fortunate that the wind was not blowing in our direction. In the evening, they returned and soaked the area as smoke was beginning to rise. By late evening, the engineers were able to access the area and our power was restored. The hillside was smoking this morning and again this afternoon, and has been soaked twice more.
We are so grateful to the fire service, the National Grid people.

Everything looks fine at the moment, and we’ve been blackberrying.
We will have to keep an eye on things, and there may be crumble and custard later.
